Expert opinion and recommendation
The Nexon was always a good product by Tata Motors. It looked good, offered enough space and features and at the same time was available in multiple powertrain combinations. When it comes to ride quality, the Nexon, much like other Tata Motor cars impresses.
Recent news and announcements
Tata Motors has hiked the prices of the 2024 Tata Nexon, with the entry-level Smart petrol 5-MT seeing a price increase of Rs 5,000, single-tone variants getting a hike of Rs 10,000, and dual-tone variants experiencing a higher hike of Rs 20,000. This brings the starting price of the 2024 Nexon to Rs 9.61 lakh and the top-end price to Rs 18.84 lakh. I believe this price adjustment reflects the ongoing demand and the added features in the latest model.
The Tata Nexon has recently been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP and achieved a five-star crash safety rating, reinforcing its reputation for safety. The Nexon features advanced safety elements such as 6 airbags, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera. I think this rating will further boost consumer confidence in the vehicle.
Tata Motors has introduced new entry variants for the Tata Nexon, with the petrol option now available in a new Smart(O) variant and the diesel engine option starting from the Smart+ trim. This move aims to make the Nexon more accessible to a wider range of buyers. I believe these new variants will help maintain the Nexons strong market presence.
Tata Motors has launched the Dark Edition of the Tata Nexon and Nexon EV, with prices starting at Rs 11.45 lakh for the Nexon Dark Edition and Rs 19.49 lakh for the Nexon EV Dark Edition. These special editions come with unique cosmetic enhancements. I believe these editions will appeal to buyers looking for a stylish and distinctive vehicle.
The Tata Nexon has crossed a significant production milestone, reaching 6 lakh units within a year of achieving the 5 lakh units mark. This milestone underscores the vehicles popularity and consumer trust in the brand. I think this achievement is a testament to Tata Motors ability to deliver quality and desirable vehicles.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon made its official debut in 2017 in the Indian car market. It is manufactured by indigenous automaker Tata Motors and is the brand's first crossover SUV and competes in the sub-4-metre crossover SUV segment in the country. In 2020, Tata launched the facelift model of the car and updated it with sophisticated features and style. To offer Nexon lovers variety, the maker has also launched the Dark Edition and Kaziranga Edition Nexon in July 2021 and February 2022, respectively. In 2018, the SUV was examined by the global safety watchdog, GNCAP, and scored a 5-star safety rating, becoming the first made-in-India car to achieve it.
Tata Nexon: All Around SUV with Strong Value
With no show of boasting the Tata Nexon a compact SUV has struck a chord of the right notes, and let’s get into this. It is not packed with too much ludicrous gimmickry it is just a good solid SUV that knows what nearly all of us really wan, decent performance, spaciousness and a design that looks about right but does not cry out 'This car is so cool, I can carry ice cellar loads in the boot if I want’. Personally I think the Nexon is perfect for daily routines and those spontaneous week ends. Tata knew what we want in an SUV that is at once practical and enjoyable. It is like Tata knew exactly.
Design: Bold, Functional, and True to the Form of an SUV
When you spot the Nexon the moment you can tell that it has the classic SUV stance it is bold but not with that flashy flavour. Finally, Tata has really nailed a modern, sharp design. And with its high ground clearance, the Nexon is ready to take on both smooth city roads and crueler trails the front grille has an air of confidence about it. I dig that the design is not trying as hard to shout 'rugged' as it is to say that this SUV was probably built for almost anything. The Nexon’s kind of heinously saying ‘I’ve got this,’ without the boasting.
Performance: Built for Everyday and Beyond
That’s where I feel the Nexon shines most, here. Tata the car is offered with a 1.2L turbo petrol or a 1.5L diesel engine so depending on your driving habits, it is actually something you get to select. It is smooth power delivery and when you want it. It goes into overdrive and makes city driving a breeze and highways even less painful. That. is about giving you a drive that’s fast, but also reliable and responsive. In every sense the Nexon seems to just generally be balanced, and behind the wheel, it just gives me a 'in control' feeling which is plain delightful.
Mileage: Making Every Drop Count
The Nexon doesn’t disappoint if you have been keeping tabs on fuel prices like I have been. If you drive hard the diesel gives you about 21 kmpl but floors the petrol to pop up slightly below 17 kmpl. For an SUV with this kind of feel, that is pretty impressive. Fuel consumption has been surprisingly economical and a big plus when fuel prices are anything but kind these days. It is like getting a vehicle that plates to both your need for performance and your wallet.
Interior: Smart, Comfortable and Spacious
Tata’s clearly put thought into how the Nexon makes you feel inside. The cabin is spacious and with very good seats even for long trips. In my book, you get enough legroom for taller passengers and there’s a welcome win there. The layout? Spot on. There is no clutter, everything’s where is it should be. Things are simple on the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make for a smooth connection to your phone. There's a quick response touchscreen along with a real treat Harman sound system. Great sound quality for those road trip playlists I can’t do without.
Safety: No Compromises Here
It is about safety and Tata has really done its homework in that area. Nexon is serious when it comes to making sure you and your passengers are protected with a 5 star Global NCAP rating. It is got dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control. Somehow, you are driving a tank that doesn’t feel like a tank. I know now that the Nexon has so many safety features, and it is especially important as I have family in my backseat. It is nice not to have to cut corners here and that trickle down appeals to me.
Technology: Practical, Not Overloaded
The Nexon tech is the right tech, none over the top. You not only get keyless entry, push button start, cruise control, and a digital instrument cluster just the essentials that make life easier but also an 8-inch diagonal infotainment instrument cluster located within your gauge binnacle itself. I really love the fact that Tata did not engage in unnecessary frills. This setup if you are not really into having a lot of gadgets in your car then is just right. But it is practical and fits in with the Nexon’s down to earth vibe. The drive is straightforward and easy to use — everything is simple as it should be.
Driving Experience: And Ready And Balanced
The thing about the Nexon that strikes you the most is how well it rides on all sorts of roads. Steering it is easy and it keep its stability even in rough patches. High ground clearance is a great plus when you are working through those all too familiar bump or pothole. The driving dynamics are just on the money here, smooth, controlled and confident enough to take anything the road can offer. The Nexon is there whether it is city traffic or an open highway.
Final Thoughts: A Strong Choice for Everyday Practical Driving
Now the big question is that the Tata Nexon is worth it? Absolutely. Constructed to be versatile yet comfortable, safe and stylish, this SUV is handpicked. If you are looking for a beater car that you can throw into daily life without any issues, it is a solid choice. From work commute and weekend adventures for me the Nexon is more than a compact SUV — it is driving companion. The Nexon doesn’t just tick the boxes it actually ups the value of everyday driving playfully.
