Kia’s Upcoming Compact SUV Set to Be Named “Clavis.”

Kia's much-anticipated sub-4-metre compact SUV, internally known as the AY and now officially named the Clavis, is set to make waves in the automotive market. According to reliable sources, the Clavis is expected to debut globally by the end of 2024, with sales anticipated to commence in early 2025, and this new entrant in the Kia lineup is poised to offer a diverse range of powertrains including internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EV), and hybrid options. Notably, the ICE models are slated to hit the market before their electric counterparts.

Kia India has ambitious production plans for the Clavis, aiming to manufacture nearly 1 lakh units of the AY SUV annually. Of these, a substantial 80 percent is earmarked for the internal combustion engine-equipped models, with a portion allocated for potential exports.

Positioned strategically between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia's India lineup, the Clavis is designed to stand out as a lifestyle vehicle. Distinguished by its robust SUV-like presence and boxier design the Clavis aims to appeal to consumers seeking a distinctive and versatile driving experience. It is worth noting that, despite its rugged appearance the Clavis will not feature 4WD technology.

Looking ahead, Kia's product lineup for India in the coming year includes not only the highly anticipated Clavis but also the born EV EV9 flagship and the new Carnival MPV. With a promising array of offerings, Kia continues to make significant strides in the Indian automotive market catering to a diverse range of preferences and needs. The Clavis in particular is poised to capture attention with its global debut offering a blend of performance, versatility, and distinctive design elements. Enthusiasts and potential buyers can look forward to a new chapter in Kia's success story as the Clavis hits the roads in 2025.
