Honda has taken major Steps in enhancing the safety features across the City and Elevate models, a move that aligns with the increasing consumer demand for safer vehicles in India. The inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants of these models not only elevates Honda's commitment to passenger safety but also positions these vehicles competitively within their respective segments.
Elevate Enhanced Safety Suite
For the Honda Elevate, previously only the top-spec models boasted features such as six airbags and sun visors with vanity mirrors for both the driver and co-passenger. However, recognizing the importance of comprehensive safety across all tiers, Honda has now extended these features to the SV, V, and VX variants as well. This update also brings a rear center three-point seatbelt, head restraint, and a rear seatbelt reminder, matching or even surpassing the safety offerings of rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, among others.
Updated Pricing Reflecting Safety Upgrades
The adjustment in features has been accompanied by a slight premium in pricing, which is justified by the significant safety enhancements. For the Elevate, the pricing now starts at Rs. 11,91,000 for the 1.5L i-VTEC MT in the SV variant, with the top-end ZX 1.5L i-VTEC CVT variant priced at Rs. 16,43,000, all ex-showroom Delhi. This strategic pricing ensures Honda remains a strong contender in the fiercely competitive SUV market.
City Adopts Standard Six Airbags
Similarly, the Honda City has seen its safety features bolstered across the board. The SV and V variants now come equipped with six airbags as standard, aligning with the top-tier ZX variant. This update includes a seatbelt reminder for all seats across both ICE and hybrid models, ensuring Honda City maintains its competitive edge against rivals like the Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna. Unlike the Maruti Ciaz, which offers dual airbags, Honda City’s comprehensive safety features set a new benchmark in the sedan segment.
Safety, A Top Priority
This move by Honda Car India Limited (HCIL) to standardize advanced safety features across more variants of its popular models underscores a growing industry trend prioritizing passenger safety. By aligning its offerings with the heightened safety expectations of today's consumers, Honda strengthens its position in the Indian automotive market, showcasing a commitment to not only meeting but exceeding industry standards for safety.
