KTM is set to expand its adventure motorcycle lineup with the next-generation KTM 390 Adventure, which will be available in two variants – a touring-focused model and an off-road-centric enduro version. Here's what we know about the 390 Adventure Enduro (tentative name) so far.
Design
Spy shots suggest a move towards a more aggressive, off-road-oriented design for the enduro version of the next-gen 390 Adventure. Key design elements include a low-set bikini fairing, a pronounced beak-style front fender, and a sleek tail section with an enduro-style flat seat. Additionally, it will feature a new banana swingarm and an LED taillight with a distinct design compared to the new 390 Duke.
Engine Specifications
The 390 Adventure Enduro will continue to use the 399cc, liquid-cooled engine from the new KTM 390 Duke. This LC4c motor is capable of delivering 45.3bhp at 8,500rpm and 39Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm on the naked streetfighter. It's yet to be confirmed if KTM will adjust the tuning or sprocket sizes to better suit the dual-purpose nature of the motorcycle. The six-speed gearbox with smooth shifting is expected to be retained.
Cycle Parts
The enduro variant will share many of its cycle parts with the next-gen 390 Adventure, including the chassis, suspension setup, and braking hardware. However, while the touring version is expected to feature a 17/19-inch wheel combination, the 390 Adventure Enduro is likely to sport an 18/21-inch wheel setup with knobby dual-purpose tires to enhance its off-road prowess. The suspension setup is anticipated to include WP upside-down forks with adjustable rebound and compression settings, along with a rear mono-shock offering preload and rebound adjustability.
Launch Timeline and Competition
The global unveiling of the new KTM 390 Adventure and the 390 Adventure Enduro is expected at EICMA 2024 in November, with the India launch likely in early 2025. While the KTM 390 Adventure Enduro won't have any direct competitors in India, it will face competition from the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the upcoming Hero Xpulse 400.
