After my suspension upgrade it felt like an entirely different bike. Until I felt the difference I didn't know how bad the stock setup was.

It's not as bad as some people will have you believe. With the right preload and damping, it's decent street riding. You will save your money for other mods.

The FZ-09 is its weakest link. Good engine, good chassis, but the suspension is not good. Upgrade as soon as you can.

In A mode, it's pretty bad. At low speeds, the bike feels as though it wants to leap out from underneath you. Definitely needs a remap.

I don't think it's as bad as people say it is. Yeah it’s abrupt, but you get used to it pretty fast. That’s the bike’s character.

It's real, but it's manageable. Start in B mode and go up. It’s all about smooth throttle inputs.

Once you get an ECU flash it is night and day. Totally worth it and the bike transforms. This should have been like this from the factory.

It’s terrible for city riding but great for spirited runs in the twisties. It depends on how you want to use the bike.

The aggressive throttle, I actually like. Makes the bike feel alive. If you want something that is smooth and docile buy a cruiser.

It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s not ideal. However, good throttle control technique does a long way in managing it.

The jerkiness is overstated. It’s there, but it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. Ride it before you judge it.

At first it was pretty annoying but after a few thousand miles I don't even notice it anymore. You adapt.

Not for a beginner at all. It is way too much power to learn the basics of riding safely. Work your way up, start on something smaller.

If you’re mature and have good self control, it can be. It has different riding modes, so if you start in B mode it tames it down quite a bit.

I did fine on an FZ-09, but I’m probably the exception. For most new riders, it's definitely not ideal. It can get away from you real quick.

No way, man. Start with an FZ-07 or something like it. In inexperienced hands the FZ 09 is just begging for trouble.

It depends on the rider. If you are older, cautious and have taken a good riding course, you may be okay. For most new riders, though, it's too much bike.

It's doable, but not recommended. At low RPMs, the bike's power is manageable, but you can get in over your head pretty easily.

Terrible idea. The FZ 09 is a handful for even experienced riders sometimes. Work your way up, and learn the basics on something smaller.

If you have a good head on your shoulders and get proper training, it can be done. Why make learning harder on yourself? But there are better starter options out there.
