Is the FZ 10 too much bike for everyday street riding or is it tame enough for an experienced rider?

For the street, it’s definitely overkill. Of course you can ride it everyday, but you’re never even using half of what it can do. Why not get something smaller and a bit more fun to wring out?

As a seasoned rider, the FZ-10 does everything right for street use. It's not twitchy, it's not unpredictable, but it's got power when you want it. It's all about self-control.

I'd say that most people don't need that much bike. You can ride it on the street yeah, but why worry about banging a wheelie through an intersection by mistake? Get a 600 and have more fun.

It's manageable but you have to respect it. The FZ-10 has no time for fools. If you can manage the throttle and have some miles under you, you’ll be fine.

I daily mine and love it. On the street, the trick is to avoid revving up in the upper part of the rev range. Without going full superbike mode, it’s plenty fast.

It's too tempting, man. That engine just begs you to do stupid things, you think you can behave. It’s a great bike but I wouldn’t want it as my only ride.

The FZ-10 is easier to ride on the street than a 600 was for me. The upright position is way more comfortable in traffic, but the torque means you’re not constantly shifting.

It's all about the rider. The FZ-10 is a great street bike when in the right hands. It's a recipe for disaster in the wrong hands. Ride accordingly and know yourself.
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?

Absolutely still worth it! The engine is timeless crossplane, the chassis is rock solid. Yes, it won't have the latest gizmos, but it has all you need to have a thrilling ride.

Nope, it’s too long in the tooth now. The electronics are old, and you can get a lot more for the money with the newer bikes in the class. Time to move on, Yamaha.

It's a great value buy now, I'd say. It’s still a beast of a bike, and you can probably snag a used one for a steal. What do you need all those fancy rider aids for anyways?
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?
10 January 2025 08:33
It's a mixed bag. The bike’s core is still great, but they’re lagging on tech. If Yamaha would give it a proper update with a TFT dash and better electronics, it would be back on top.

I can tell you as a current owner, you can still have a blast riding in 2025. It’s not the newest or greatest thing out there but every time I twist the throttle it puts a smile on my face. Right? That’s what matters, right?
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?
10 January 2025 08:33
It's aged well, the FZ-10 is like a fine wine. It's more reliable and easier to work on than some of the newer bikes because it doesn’t have complicated electronics. Sometimes simpler is better.
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?
10 January 2025 08:33
It depends on what you are after, I think. Don't come here if you want the latest tech. If you want a raw, powerful naked bike that’s been proven reliable, the FZ 10 is still hard to beat.
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?

It's outdated, no question. It's behind the times in suspension, and I can't deal with the lack of cornering ABS. Now there are much better options out there.
How does the FZ-10 rate when it comes to long distance touring comfort in comparison to other naked bikes?
10 January 2025 08:33
I have done a 1000 mile weekend on my FZ 10 and it was surprisingly comfortable. Long rides are great upright, but you want a windscreen for highway speeds.
How does the FZ-10 rate when it comes to long distance touring comfort in comparison to other naked bikes?
10 January 2025 08:33
It's for long distances, no way, it's a torture rack. The wind protection is a deal breaker, but the seat is way too hard. Short rides are best, or you'll have a sore butt and tired arms.
How does the FZ-10 rate when it comes to long distance touring comfort in comparison to other naked bikes?
10 January 2025 08:33
It's all about mods. Just slap on a comfortable seat, a tall windscreen and some soft luggage and it becomes a great sport tourer. With its flexibility, it's an excellent engine for putting miles away.
How does the FZ-10 rate when it comes to long distance touring comfort in comparison to other naked bikes?

I'd say that's middle of the pack. It’s better than a full on sportbike but not as comfortable as a Tracer or a BMW R1250RS. If you want something sporty but still want to be able to throw it on the back of the car for an occasional long trip, it's a good compromise.
