In standstill traffic, the engine heat can be a bit much. Not a great one for hot summer days.

It's fine, but without low end torque, you're always working the gears in traffic.

Great for filtering with the narrow profile, but the wide mirrors can sometimes be a pain.

In traffic, I actually prefer the Pulsar N160. At low speeds it feels more planted and stable.

I started with the stock exhaust and replaced it with an aftermarket one. It shaves off some weight and the sound improvement is incredible. Make sure it's road legal, though.

Practical mods are something I’m a big fan of. I added a phone mount with USB charger and it’s been super handy for navigation and keeping my phone charged up on longer trips.

I honestly think the FZS 250 is pretty solid stock. Apart from that I have just added some frame sliders for protection and a tail tidy to tidy up the rear end. Sometimes less is more.

A good air filter and a Power Commander can wake up the engine a bit if you’re looking for a performance boost. It won't make it into a race bike, but it does make a difference.

I did the whole LED lights all around thing. It looks pretty cool too, and gives better visibility at night. But just make sure you don’t go too bright and blind other drivers!

I swear by a good windscreen for touring. On long highway stretches, it makes a huge difference, cutting wind fatigue. It also makes the bike look more substantial.

I have found that replacing the brake lines with steel braided ones really improves the braking feel. You won't see it, but it's great for safety and performance.

Honestly, 2025 has better options for beginners. Some of the more advanced ABS and traction control on the newer 200cc bikes can be really helpful if you’re a new rider.

Coming from an FZS 250 last year, I would say it is a good bike. It’s forgiving enough to not get angry when you make mistakes, but still fun enough that you still want to get better as you improve.

I’d argue it’s actually better for intermediates than absolute beginners. It’s a little much for someone who’s never ridden before. Perhaps start on a 150cc and work up to the FZS 250.

The FZS 250’s resale value is one big advantage for beginners. You won't lose much money if you decide riding isn't for you, or you want to upgrade after a year.

I think the FZS 250 will still be relevant in 2025 for beginners, but that depends on your goals. It’s great if you’re only going to be riding in the city. If you want to start touring long right away, something a little more highway oriented might be in order.
