Is the build quality of Baleno really as bad as people say?

Come on, let's be real here. It's still tinny compared to a Hyundai i20. Maruti has come a long way, but it still has a long way to go in terms of perceived quality.

I think people are too hung up on the "thud" factor. The Baleno is engineered to be as light as possible, for efficiency. It doesn't feel heavy doesn't mean it isn't safe or poorly built.

I've been in the auto business, and I can tell you that the Baleno's build is clever, actually. Key areas have been made of high strength steel, with overall weight kept down. This is a modern way of designing cars.

I have had both a Baleno and a VW Polo. I've had way fewer issues with the Baleno but the Polo definitely felt more solid. But sometimes that perceived quality doesn’t equate to actual reliability.
Is the Baleno’s infotainment system actually useful or just a gimmick?
31 December 2024 07:38
In fact, I find the Baleno’s infotainment pretty useful. The Android Auto integration is perfect, it's a seamless way of getting navigation and music control on the go.

It's okay, nothing special. The gripe about the touchscreen that’s laggy at times and “Hey Suzuki” voice commands that are hit or miss are all true. Half the time I just end up using my phone.
Is the Baleno’s infotainment system actually useful or just a gimmick?

I think for a car in this price range its quite good. It’s not the slickest premium brand, but it does the job and has all the basics.
Is the Baleno’s infotainment system actually useful or just a gimmick?

I've got mixed feelings. And while the screen is nice and big, the UI isn’t all that intuitive. I took a while to get used to it and I still get confused with some menus.
Is the Baleno’s infotainment system actually useful or just a gimmick?
31 December 2024 07:38
I am not super techy and it’s easy to connect my phone and use basic functions. Although it's not perfect, it's user friendly enough for me.

The tech is good, but I would have liked to have seen them work on improving build quality or adding more safety features instead of this fancy tech.
Is the Baleno’s infotainment system actually useful or just a gimmick?

The voice command feature is actually something I really like. It’s also useful for changing songs and setting the navigation without taking my hands off the wheel.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
I have driven AMT Baleno and a friend's CVT Honda and to be honest, the AMT is not bad for city driving. Yeah, it's a little jerky sometimes, but you get used to it and it's great on fuel.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
No way, man. I test drove the AMT, and I hated it. You press the accelerator, and it's really annoying when you have to merge onto a highway because there's a lag. The manual version was what I ended up going for.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
I think people are too hard on AMTs. They are not as smooth as a traditional auto but so much cheaper to maintain. It’s a good option for a budget conscious buyer.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
While I have driven AMTs from various marques, the Baleno’s is one of the better ones. It's not perfect, but it's a long way behind from the early AMTs that were absolutely awful.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
In fact, I like the AMT better than a CVT. With the AMT at least you feel like you are shifting gears. I just don’t like the feel of CVTs, they’re droney to me.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
If you want a true automatic experience, well save up for a higher end car with a proper auto. A compromise, the AMT shows in daily driving.
How does the AMT compare with traditional automatics?
31 December 2024 07:38
It’s a personal preference; I think it depends on how you drive. But the AMT, although as well executed as the Geartronic and almost as competent, can be surprisingly smooth if you're not in a hurry to go anywhere. It’s all about driving adaptation.
Is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx?
31 December 2024 07:09
It's basically a carbon copy with a Toyota badge stuck on the front. Same car, different logo.
Is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx?
31 December 2024 07:09
The grille design and bumpers are different, but yeah, it's a Fronx in Toyota clothing.
