My friend's Himalayan has been way more reliable than mine, which I've had for two years. The trick is to do as the manual says and not to skimp on maintenance.

It does need a bit more service than Japanese bikes. The flip side is that it’s more engaging to ride and has better performance.

KTM sorted out most of the teething issues of the early models. The SW version currently is pretty solid.

I don't think the reliability concerns are overblown. Yes, it’s not bulletproof, but it’s not the fragile machine that some make it out to be.

What I dislike most is how expensive parts and service are. It's reliable enough, but when something does go wrong, it really hurts the wallet.

I owned both and would say it’s roughly on par with the BMW G310GS for reliability. They're not unreliable, but they need more attention than a Japanese bike.

It's pretty comfortable for 6'2" me. And I didn't have to make any ergonomic changes, which the upright riding position really helps with.

It's fine for shorter rides, but as a 6'3" rider, I find I feel cramped after a couple of hours. It took a few bar risers and a taller seat to make me comfortable.

For tall riders, surprisingly good! At 6'1", it fits better than some larger ADV bikes I have tried. The key is adjustable suspension; you can really dial it in for your height/weight.

It’s fine up to about 6’2” I think. Beyond that, you may begin to feel a bit folded up. It's still more comfortable for tall riders than most bikes in this class.

Stock, it was too small for my 6'4" body. It is now perfect for me with some mods like peg lowers and handlebar risers, but. It’s got good base ergonomics, but we taller folks just need to tweak it a bit.

Taller riders will definitely find it more comfortable than the Duke 390, but if you’re over 6’2”, you might consider larger ADV bikes for the best comfort.

The standard model is more than enough for most riders, honestly. The SW is cool, but unless you really have a fascination with fine-tuning your ride, you may not even use the adjustable suspension that much.

Depending on how you ride, it depends. If you are just commuting and riding on the weekend on good roads, save your money. If you’re into adventure touring or just like to tackle varied terrains, the SW is the way to go.

I don’t think it’s worth what you pay for it. That extra money, you could then put towards aftermarket upgrades that would make a bigger difference to your riding experience.

The SW feels like a more premium bike overall, and as someone who's ridden both, I think it's a good bike. Just the cherry on top is the adjustable suspension.
