Absolutely worth it! The same engine and frame are available at a lower price through the X model. Why do we need every single one of those fancy electronics? They’re just additional things that can break.

That really depends on your riding style. If you will be doing a lot of off-roading, the simpler setup of the X model may actually be a benefit. You're less worried when you're in the dirt.

Not worth it in my opinion. Cornering ABS and traction control are those safety features that really could save your bacon if you’re not the most experienced of riders. It would be more than worth it to pay extra for peace of mind.

If you want to build your own bike, the X is perfect. You don’t pay for features you may replace anyway, and you can grow your way up.

I think KTM made a smart move. Not all the bells and whistles are a must or a want for everyone. In this way, more people can afford adventure riding.

It’s definitely worth the extra cash. The display itself is a huge difference in the overall experience. And those Metzeler tires are much better than the MRFs.

I own the X, and I say it’s totally worth it. It’s more raw and connected without all the electronic aids. It's a pure riding experience.

At first I was skeptical, but after test riding both, I prefer the X. The lower seat height makes it so much easier in traffic and when stopping.

It's a tough call. I don't think the X is bad value, but I wouldn't be able to help myself wishing I had the features I didn't get. It might be worth saving up for the standard.

For a beginner, the X is perfect. You don’t get overwhelmed with features you may not use right away, but you get the same great chassis and engine. If you want, you can always upgrade later.

I did a 1000 km trip on my X, and it was surprisingly comfortable. Once you’re used to the basic speedo, the lack of a TFT display isn’t a big deal.

It’s a great touring bike, but get those MRF tires out of there ASAP. On long highway stretches, they're not confidence inspiring.

The 390 X is a rocket ship compared to the Himalayan. But the Himalayan would have an edge on really rough roads; the Himalayan is much more fun on the highways.

However, I find the X to be slightly buzzy at highway speeds. Fine for weekend trips, but for serious long-distance touring, I'd look at something bigger.

For touring, the fuel efficiency is amazing. It’s easy to get 400 km on a tank, so fewer stops, more riding.

Touring is handled well, but buy a good aftermarket seat. After a few hours, the stock one gets uncomfortable.

I’ve toured on both the X and the standard 390 Adventure. The X is honestly what I prefer for long trips. The money saved can go towards good luggage, and the simpler dash is less distracting.

The BMW G 310 GS has an edge in refinement, but where the road gets twisty or rough, the 390 X feels more capable.

It’s not the best option for pure road touring. If you want to mix in some light off roading on your trips though, the X is hard to beat at its price point.

The X is no slouch for touring. A few mods, like a taller windscreen and a better seat, and it can hang with bikes that cost twice as much.
