When it comes to long term reliability, the Vios is the one that works out better for me. My friend's City has had a few minor issues, but I have had mine for 7 years with zero issues.

I've had both, and I think the City is more fun to drive in the end. Over longer periods, the interior stays good, and it feels more responsive. The Vios is reliable, but after some time it gets boring.

Long term, it appears that the Vios has lower maintenance costs. It is easy to get parts for it and they are inexpensive. I've heard from friends, and I can't say the same for the City.

Never underestimate the importance of after sales service. Honda service center is much better than Toyota in my city. It makes a big difference when you are dealing with regular maintenance over many years.

The Vios feels more durable, and both are good cars. My Vios still feels solid after 5 years, my colleague's City meanwhile has some rattles and feels a bit worn.
