Not at all! The bike is safer and more versatile because of the tech. It’s great for long distance adventure riding.

Totally overkill. Simple and robust is what adventure bikes should be. It’s just more stuff to break when I’m out in the middle of nowhere.

The only part that is overkill is if you do not use it. But if you learn how to leverage the tech, it will make your adventures better.

The new tech is great. Having the ability to change settings on the fly makes for a bike that can be adapted to all conditions.

It's not overkill, it's progress. Just because you are going adventuring doesn’t mean you have to go back in time technologically.

Not at all! In actuality, the new rider modes and improved traction control make it easier for beginners to control the power.

It's definitely not the most beginner friendly. More power equals more responsibility and new riders can get in over their heads.

For beginners, the R1300GSA is still fine, but they should start at the low power modes and work their way up.

I would not recommend any GSA model to true beginners. Regardless of the tech, start smaller and work your way up.

It’s not dramatic power increase. If you can handle a R1250GSA, you’re fine on the 1300.

It's all about self-control. Beginners need to respect the power, and learn gradually – the bike has the tech to keep you safe.

It's more intermediate friendly now, I'd say. A big adventure bike, great for second bike owners looking to step up.

Absolutely! In addition, the new suspension and electronics actually make it even more capable off-road, and improve on road comfort.

It is too road focused these days. Each new generation, however, loses a bit of that raw, go any where spirit.

I’ve run mine on some gnarly trails and it’s handled better than the 1250 ever did. It's a true all-rounder.
