Is the R1250GSA really worth the upgrade from the R1300GSA?

No doubt, the motorcycle fans who are already the owners of the R1250GSA are waiting to read how their dream vehicle BMW R1300GS Adventure do carry itself. With any new model release, there’s always a debate over whether the upgrades are worth the cost and effort of swapping. The R1300GSA has improvements in power, weight and technology but are these changes enough to trade in a perfectly good R1250GSA? Some riders say the differences are minimal and not worth the extra cost; others say the new features and refinements add up to a noticeable difference in the riding experience. Also, will early adopters have teething issues with the new model, or would they be better off sticking with the tried and true R1250GSA?

Absolutely worth it! Even the weight reduction alone makes a big difference in handling, especially off road. And the new tech features are game changers for long distance touring.

No, it’s just marketing hype. My R1250GSA feels brand new and does everything I need. So why the extra cash for marginal gains?

It all depends on your riding style. If you're hardcore off roader, the R1300GSA's improvements might be worth it. If you are mostly using the bike on the road stick with the 1250.

I upgraded and I wouldn't go back. Both the new engine character and the better electronics make it feel like a new bike.

Wait a year or two. Give them a year to work out any first year issues before jumping on the R1300GSA bandwagon.

The R1300GSA is a clear step up in technology, but is it "worth it" depends on your budget and how much you care about having the newest and shiniest stuff.

I rode both back to back and the difference is subtle honestly. This little bit of extra processing power won’t make you a better developer unless you’re pushing the limits of what your unit can do.
