Will the Darkstar design be too conservative for the adventure bike market?

I fear it might end up being a cheap Multistrada knockoff. Bajaj should concentrate on developing their own unique ADV identity.

I think the leaked images look pretty good. Not going overboard with the ADV cues, but it's got enough. Sometimes subtle is better.

Functionality is higher than design. Hardcore ADV riders won’t mind if it looks a bit plain, as long as it performs well off road.

The design should involve some risks. Bajaj needs to stand out to make an impact in the ADV market which is getting crowded.
Is the Bajaj Darkstar just an adventure dressed Pulsar?
15 January 2025 10:23
It will probably be more of a road biased ADV, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. And most riders don’t need hardcore off road capability, a more street friendly ADV could work well for Indian roads and light trails.

I'm skeptical. Adventure bikes are not Bajaj's strength, they're sporty commuters. Either way, they’ll probably just slap on some ADV styling cues and call it a day. At best, it’ll be a poser bike.

Don't underestimate Bajaj, hey. Lately, they've been upping their game, and the Pulsar platform is solid. With the right tweak to suspension and ergonomics, this could be a great entry level ADV.

I think it's good to use the Pulsar as a base. That’ll keep costs down, and make it more accessible. Not all first adventure rides require a KTM level ADV bike.

We shall wait and see before judging. Bajaj might surprise us. Sure, it’s not a hardcore off roader, but a comfortable, reliable ADV styled bike is what a lot of Indian riders are looking for.
Is the CT125X Drum only a city commuter, or can it really handle long distance touring?
15 January 2025 10:14
I took my CT125X on a 300km round trip and it did great! It’s no tourer, sure, but for weekend getaways it’s more than up to the task.
Is the CT125X Drum only a city commuter, or can it really handle long distance touring?
15 January 2025 10:14
No way. It is unsafe for long distance riding due to the lack of a front disc brake alone. With this one stick to the city.

Expectations management is the name of the game. Can it do touring? Yes. Is it ideal? No. If you only have one bike and want to explore, it will do the job.

It depends on the roads, I think. It's fine on smooth highways. Throw in some rough patches or ghats however and you will be wishing for better suspension and more power.

The CT125X is your friend that will go along with whatever you want to do. It won’t be the best for long trips, but it’ll take it without complaining!

Any bike can be a touring bike if you put your mind to it, let's be real. There are definitely better options out there for the same price, though.

I’ve seen food delivery guys ride these for 12+ hours a day. If it can do that, it can do your weekend trip to the next state.
How good is the CT125X Drum's build quality to merit "tough as nails" marketing?
15 January 2025 10:14
Mine is a year old and it's taken everything i've thrown at it. It's surprisingly good value for money, build wise. It’s not flimsy like some other budget bikes, it feels solid.

A stretch to call him tough as nails. It’s decently built, but I’ve had switchgear issues and the paint quality isn’t great. At its price, maybe it's tough, but that's about it.

The CT125X definitely feels more robust than what I’m used to coming from a Hero Splendor. On the frame and suspension, it appears to be well up to the task of daily abuse.

In some ways it’s tough, but in others it’s not. There's nothing wobbly about the engine and chassis, but everything from the mirrors to the plastic bits feels cheap. It's a mixed bag.
