About
The Tata Indica V2 LS is a hatchback that has been a staple in the Indian market since its introduction. It boasts a spacious interior, which is one of its key selling points, providing ample leg space and comfort for five occupants. The car is powered by a 1.4-litre diesel engine that produces 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It features hydraulic power steering, air conditioning, and a basic but functional dashboard with a tachometer and other essential gauges. While the exterior design is dated, the cars reliability and low maintenance costs have made it a favourite among tour operators and budget-conscious buyers. However, the lack of modern safety features and the underpowered engine on highways are significant drawbacks. Despite these, the Indica V2 LS remains a value-for-money option for those prioritizing space, fuel efficiency, and affordability.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Indica V2 LS is a vehicle that has its strengths and weaknesses, making it a mixed bag for potential buyers. On the positive side, it offers a spacious cabin that can comfortably accommodate five occupants, which is a significant advantage for family users. The fuel-efficient diesel motor, particularly the 1.4-litre engine, provides an ARAI-certified mileage of up to 25 kmpl, making it a wallet-friendly option. However, the engine feels underpowered on highways, and the lack of essential safety features like ABS and airbags is a major drawback. The ride quality is comfortable at low speeds, but the suspension can be soft and vague, especially on rough roads. Overall, while the Indica V2 LS is reliable and offers good value for money in terms of space and fuel efficiency, its dated design and limited features make it less appealing compared to modern competitors.
Price
The Tata Indica V2 LS is priced in the range of Rs 5.13 lakh to Rs 5.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which places it in a competitive segment. However, when you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other taxes, the price can escalate to around Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Despite its affordable pricing, the Indica V2 LS faces stiff competition from other hatchbacks in the market that offer more modern features and better safety standards. For buyers on a tight budget looking for a spacious and fuel-efficient car, the Indica V2 LS might still be a viable option, but its crucial to weigh the costs against the benefits of newer models.

In a recent update, Tata Motors has confirmed that the Indica V2 LS features power steering, air conditioning, and a digital odometer, enhancing the comfort and convenience for drivers. However, it lacks advanced safety features like ABS and airbags. I believe this is a significant oversight in todays safety-conscious market.

The Tata Indica V2 LS has a front-wheel drive system with independent suspension at the front and semi-trailing arm suspension at the rear. This setup provides a comfortable ride, especially at low speeds. The car also comes with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. I think the suspension is well-tuned for Indian road conditions.

Tata Motors has been offering discounts on the Indica V2 LS, with savings of over Rs. 50,000 in some cases. This move is aimed at boosting sales and attracting more buyers to this aging but reliable model. I believe these discounts make the car a more attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.

Despite its age, the Tata Indica V2 LS still competes with newer models like the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10. Its reliability and fuel efficiency are major factors that keep it in the running. However, its lack of modern features is a significant drawback. I believe its a good option for those prioritizing practicality over modern amenities.
Monday, 20 May 2024 07:48 AM
The Indica V2 LS has undergone several styling updates since its launch, with the most recent refresh adding some new comfort features. However, the cars design remains largely unchanged, which might not appeal to buyers looking for a more contemporary look. I think a more significant design overhaul could revitalize interest in this model.

Tata Motors has emphasized the Indica V2 LSs fuel-efficient diesel motor, which is ARAI-certified to deliver up to 25 km/l in ideal conditions. This makes it an economical choice for daily commutes. I believe the fuel efficiency is a major selling point, especially in a market where fuel costs are a significant concern.
Monday, 25 March 2024 04:18 PM
The Indica V2 LS lacks advanced safety features such as ABS, airbags, and electronic stability control. This is a significant concern for safety-conscious buyers. I think adding these features would significantly enhance the cars appeal and safety profile.
Tuesday, 20 February 2024 08:34 AM
The Tata Indica V2 LS has a manual transmission and a 5-speed gearbox, which is well-suited for intra-city driving. However, the engine can feel underpowered on highways, making it less ideal for long road trips. I believe this is something potential buyers should consider if they plan to use the car for both city and highway driving.

Discussions and Answers Tata Indica V2 LS
What is the mileage of Tata Indica V2 LS diesel model?
29 December 2022 05:40
Tata Indica V2 LS diesel returns a mileage of 20 kmpl in mixed driving conditions. It comes with a 1405 cc diesel motor 47.5 BHP and 85 NM of torque. The car is really under powered as the engine should have been a minimum 70 BHP unit. It comes with a limited approach to the options, excluding the features which are now a days available in many cars. It lacks on safety with no airbags, ABS or any other technology. It comes with disc brakes for the front wheels and drum for the rear. With 5 passenger capacity, it is only good for short tours s lack of power will be clearly visible on the highway.
