The Tata Harrier Adventure X Dark Edition Petrol is, to me, the sweet spot if you want the Harrier’s macho stance without committing to diesel. It uses Tata’s new 1.5‑litre Hyperion turbo‑petrol, a 4‑cylinder unit making about 170hp and 280Nm, driving the front wheels through a 6‑speed manual gearbox, so performance is strong enough for highway runs while still claiming around 16.8–17kmpl by ARAI in ideal conditions in India . The Dark treatment with Oberon Black paint and darkened alloys really amplifies road presence, and at 4605mm long, 1922mm wide and on a 2741mm wheelbase, it feels properly big and SUV‑ish . Inside, I like the combination of panoramic sunroof, driving modes, cruise control, a modern touchscreen with phone‑based navigation, and full power windows, so the variant never feels barebones . Safety kit in India is solid with traction control, hill‑descent control, tyre‑pressure monitoring, rear wiper/defogger and speed‑sensing locks, though you do need to step up to higher variants for the full ADAS suite .
