About
The Nissan Evalia Special Edition is a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) designed to cater to the needs of large Indian families. It boasts a spacious interior with ample headroom, flat floors, and comfortable seating for up to six people. The vehicle is powered by a 1461 cc diesel engine that produces 84.8 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, paired with a manual transmission. Key features include rear AC vents, parking sensors, a rear camera, and a dash-mounted gear lever. The high driving position provides excellent visibility, and the light steering makes it easy to maneuver in city traffic. The Evalia also stands out with its short turning radius of 5.2 meters, enhancing its urban driving capabilities. Despite some criticisms about its build quality and exterior design, the Evalia remains a practical and comfortable choice for family use.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Nissan Evalia Special Edition is a mixed bag, offering several compelling features but also some areas that need improvement. On the positive side, it provides a comfortable and spacious interior, which is ideal for large Indian families. The ride quality and handling are noteworthy, with the vehicle behaving more like a sedan than an MUV, especially in city conditions. The diesel engine delivers good fuel economy, with users reporting up to 19.3 kmpl, and it is smooth and rev-friendly, although it can be noisy. However, the build quality and suspension could be better, and the exterior design, particularly the rear, has been criticized for its boxy look. Overall, its a practical choice for those seeking a family vehicle, but it may not appeal to everyone due to its design and some quality issues.
Price
The Nissan Evalia Special Edition was priced around Rs 11.61 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) when it was introduced. On-road prices would vary depending on the state and local taxes, but you can expect to add around Rs 1-2 lakh to the ex-showroom price. For example, in Delhi, the on-road price could be around Rs 13-14 lakh. This pricing positions the Evalia competitively in the MPV segment, although it may still face stiff competition from other popular models like the Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. The additional features in the Special Edition, such as the chrome front grille, alloy wheels, and integrated fog lamps, justify the slightly higher price point.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 22 October 2014 07:50 AM
Nissan has introduced a new premium version of the Evalia, which is positioned above the existing top-end XV (O) variant. This new variant features an all-new chrome grille, a redesigned front bumper, and other cosmetic upgrades. The interior also sees some enhancements to make it more luxurious. I think this move is a good attempt to revamp the Evalias image and attract more buyers.

The Nissan Evalia Special variant has been launched with a revised front fascia, including a new chrome grille and a sportier front bumper. This range-topping van also comes with additional features to make it more appealing in the competitive MPV segment. I believe these updates could help the Evalia stand out, but it remains to be seen if it will boost sales significantly.

Nissan India has announced the launch of the Evalia Special variant, which includes all the features of the top-end Evalia V (O) trim along with some new exterior styling cues. This move is part of Nissans strategy to refresh the Evalias lineup and attract more customers. I think this is a positive step, but the real test will be how the market responds to these changes.

Despite the launch of new variants, the Nissan Evalia has not seen the expected sales in India, leading to a production halt to clear inventory. The Evalia, known globally as the NV200, has struggled to gain traction in the Indian market. I believe Nissan needs to reassess its marketing and pricing strategies to make the Evalia more competitive.

Nissan launched the Evalia in India with high expectations, offering it in four variants. However, the vehicle has not met the anticipated sales figures, prompting Nissan to consider new strategies to boost sales. I think the Evalia has a lot of potential, but it needs better marketing and possibly some price adjustments to appeal to more buyers.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 12:27 PM
The Nissan Evalia Special Edition offers a respectable mileage of 19.3 kmpl, according to ARAI certifications. In real-world conditions, users have reported mileage ranging from 14 kmpl in city driving to 21 kmpl on long highway drives, all with the air conditioner on. This fuel efficiency is a significant advantage, especially for those who plan to use the vehicle for both urban and long-distance travel. It helps in keeping the running costs manageable, making it a viable option for families and those who prioritize fuel economy.
