Maruti Ertiga Diesel LDi (O)

About
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Diesel LDi (O) is a 7-seater MPV that combines practicality with affordability. It is powered by a 1.3L diesel engine, though newer models have transitioned to a 1.5L diesel engine, which offers better performance. The vehicle features a spacious cabin with a usable third row, although ingress and egress can be tricky due to the second row not tumbling forward. It comes equipped with essential safety features like dual airbags, ABS EBD, and Isofix anchors. The Ertiga also boasts a good air conditioning system with rear AC vents that have condensers, ensuring equally chilled air throughout the cabin. The car-like driving experience and city-friendly size make it an ideal choice for urban families or those needing a versatile vehicle for short and long trips alike.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Diesel LDi (O) is a practical and versatile MPV that offers a compelling package for those needing a spacious and feature-rich vehicle. While it has its drawbacks, such as the diesel engine being sluggish until 2000 rpm and limited legroom in the third row, it compensates with its city-friendly size, decent mileage, and a well-equipped cabin. The Ertigas interior, though not luxurious, is better than many of its competitors in the same segment. The addition of features like dual airbags, ABS EBD, and Isofix anchors enhances safety. However, the build quality and refinement are average, which might be a concern for some buyers. Overall, it is a solid choice for families or those who need a 7-seater without breaking the bank.
Price
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Diesel LDi (O) is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this variant typically ranges between Rs. 9.5 to 10.5 lakhs, depending on the location. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can go up to around Rs. 11 to 12 lakhs. This pricing makes the Ertiga an attractive option when compared to other 7-seater MPVs, as it offers a lot of value for money. The cost-effectiveness is further enhanced by Marutis excellent after-sales service and wide dealer network, which can reduce long-term ownership costs.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 14 November 2023 06:02 PM Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the new generation of the Ertiga will not include a diesel automatic variant. The diesel engine will only be available with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol version will get a conventional 4-speed automatic gearbox. This decision aligns with the companys focus on petrol and CNG options. I think this is a practical move given the current market trends and consumer preferences.
Tuesday, 30 April 2019 06:40 PM The 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine, which powered the Ertiga LDi, has been phased out due to the implementation of BS6 emission norms. It has been replaced by a new 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine developed in-house by Suzuki. This new engine offers better performance and efficiency. I believe this upgrade enhances the overall driving experience and aligns with environmental regulations.
Tuesday, 12 March 2019 10:57 AM Maruti Suzuki had stopped taking bookings for the Ertiga LDi variant starting March 2019, as part of their plan to discontinue this base diesel model. Existing inventories of the LDi and LXi variants were liquidated by dealerships. This move also meant that the petrol Ertiga could now be offered with an automatic transmission across all variants. I think this was a strategic decision to streamline their product lineup and focus on more popular variants.
Tuesday, 05 March 2019 06:24 PM The discontinuation of the Ertiga LDi variant was surprising, especially since the new 1.5-litre diesel engine was not planned for the base L variant. The 1.3-litre diesel engine, which made 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque, was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. I believe the decision to discontinue this variant was likely driven by market demand and the need to introduce more efficient engines.
Monday, 04 March 2019 07:15 AM The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga LDi variant, which was once the base diesel model, has been discontinued since April 2019. This decision was made as part of Maruti Suzukis strategy to phase out smaller diesel engines in favor of larger, more efficient ones. The VDi variant took over as the most affordable diesel option, priced at Rs. 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). I believe this move was necessary to comply with changing emission norms and to offer better performance.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 08:30 AM The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Diesel LDi (O) offers decent mileage, making it a viable choice for those concerned about running costs. The diesel engine provides a mileage of around 20-24 kmpl, depending on driving conditions. This is quite efficient for a 7-seater MPV, especially when considering the vehicles size and capabilities. The mild-hybrid system also helps in improving fuel economy, making it a good option for both city and highway driving.

Is the Citroen C3 suitable for city driving?
09 January 2024 08:20

Yes, the Citroen C3 is designed with city driving in mind making it an ideal choice for navigating urban environments. It is easy to maneuver through city streets, small parking spaces, and clogged traffic thanks to its small size and agile handling. The automobile is more suited for city driving when its agility is paired with features like a quick steering system. Additionally, the Citroen C3 often comes with a comfortable interior making daily city driving a more enjoyable experience. Whether you are navigating busy streets or finding parking in crowded areas the Citroen C3 is crafted to provide a convenient and efficient urban driving experience.

How is the drive quality of Citroen C3?
09 January 2024 08:17

The C3 soaks up rough roads, potholes, and broken patches in a manner that would make a multiple-time WRC-winning company proud. Which Citroen is! The C3 makes bumps disappear and it doesn’t bob or bounce. The tall sidewalls for the tyres give it added cushioning that lets the C3 just glide over broken roads. It’s absolutely wow on this front! Citroen says that the C3 is meant to be fun to drive too. As it turns out, despite its comfort factor, the C3 isn’t soft and sloppy at high speeds. Sure, the suspension is supple, but it is also controlled. In bends at high speeds, there’s a bit of body roll but then it settles down. It actually feels composed and stable even over 120kmph! So, Citroen’s rally pedigree can be experienced in the way the C3 soaks up bumps and the way it likes to be hustled too.

Which one is the best, Citroen C3 or Toyota Glanza?
09 January 2024 08:16

While each vehicle excels in its own right, the Citroen C3 offers the functionality and room of a compact SUV for the cost of a hatchback that is comfortable on a range of surfaces. But it also lacks several basic equipment such as motorized adjustable mirrors, windshield wipers, and other creature conveniences to which we have grown accustomed from its competition. On the other hand, if you are looking for a hatch that satisfies a lot of needs the Glanza is an excellent option. It has more capacity than several more costly sedans an efficient engine selection, and a respectable features list. Therefore, you can choose the Glanza if a roomy cabin, good features, fuel economy, and power output are your top objectives.

What is the minimum down payment for Citroen C3?
09 January 2024 08:15

The down payment typically amounts to 20–30% of the vehicle's on-road price, while the ROI varies from 9.25–11.5% and is entirely dependent on the individual's CIBIL/Credit score. Which car is better, Citroen C3 or Maruti Wagon R?
09 January 2024 08:13

Both vehicles excel in their own fields, but the Citroen C3 offers the room and functionality of a compact SUV for the cost of a hatchback that is comfortable on a range of surfaces. However, it is also devoid of many creature conveniences that its competitors have made us accustomed to, such as electrically adjustable mirrors and windshield wipers. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, on the other hand, is the perfect little family vehicle. It has two engine options is efficient, practical, and capacious. It also has a convenient automatic transmission. Additionally we advise you to do a test drive to gain a better idea of compatibility and comfort when driving. Great family car in this budget

It is a great family car, with ample leg space, smooth driving, and ultimate seating comfort. The performance of the AC is excellent and the rear ac vents also come with controls, which is an added benefit. The seating is very comfortable and the hand rests further enhance the experience. The car is very good for long road trips, as the engine is powerful and the fuel average is also very impressive. I bought the diesel smart hybrid variant, which gives a fuel efficiency of around 23-24 Km/l. Overall, a good car in this price range!

I see my Ertiga as a most comfortable, spacious and cool SUV. Yeah it have resemblance to Innova but one of my friend (who also owns Innova) admit that my Ertiga has better seats than his car. I am not writing about its exterior as every one has seen it, so it doesn't make sense. I would like to tell here that, my car provides comfortable seating for 7 persons. All the speculations regarding its seating comfort are not true. As my family members who are taller than 5' 5" sits comfortably. The AC is also powerful, it take just 10 minutes to cool the cabin. The handling is also easy because of its height and length. It delivers me 30kmpl average on good roads. What else I want. So, if you thinking to purchase one for you. Don't look for more reviews just visit nearby dealership and check it out. You will definitely be surprised.

The Best Family Car at an Affordable Price

I bought Maruti Ertiga ZDi model in 2014 and you can't believe it is truly a great car at a competitive price point. Its smooth steering and light clutch makes it comfortable and easy to maneuver. Plastic quality and cabin space is amazing. If you drive at around 100 kmph, you can even get a good efficiency of 15 to 16 kmpl on highway. However in city, it offers around 12 to 13 kmpl mileage. It has low maintenance if anybody want to purchase a car between 8 to 12 lakhs than it is a good option. The engine performs well even at high speeds. Even over long distances, 2 adults can comfortably sit on the 3rd row. I have traveled with seven members multiple times and its an absolute joy with no negative impact on either mileage or handling or air conditioning. Overall, it is a nice car which allows your whole family to travel together and comfortably.
