USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra XUV500 4x4 W10 (Diesel) is a robust and feature-packed SUV that caters well to the needs of Indian consumers. While it has its strengths, such as improved styling, a neater interior trim, and generous storage space, it also has some drawbacks. The engine, though powerful with 155PS and 360Nm of torque, can sound gruff at lower revs. The 6-speed automatic transmission is smooth but tends to shift up gears early, which can limit flat-out acceleration. However, for daily driving, it performs satisfactorily. The ride comfort is commendable, especially with the fine-tuned rear suspension developed in conjunction with Lotus. Despite some body roll in corners, the overall comfort and efficiency make it a comfortable cruiser. Safety features are comprehensive, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control. Overall, its a solid choice for those seeking a spacious, feature-rich SUV with good performance and comfort.
Price
In India, the Mahindra XUV500 4x4 W10 (Diesel) is priced competitively. The ex-showroom price typically ranges between 18 lakh to 20 lakh, depending on the region and any additional features or options chosen. When you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes, registration, and insurance, the price can go up to around 22 lakh to 25 lakh. This pricing makes the XUV500 a viable option in the mid-size SUV segment, offering a balance of features, performance, and value for money. The aggressive pricing strategy by Mahindra helps in making this vehicle an attractive choice for buyers looking for a feature-packed SUV without breaking the bank.
Latest Updates
Monday, 11 November 2024 01:00 AM Mahindra has announced that the XUV500 nameplate will be revived in the Indian market, with the new model expected to launch by mid-2022. The 2022 XUV500 is likely to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom) and will feature a 5-seater layout, a significant change from the previous 7-seater configuration. I think this move could help Mahindra compete more effectively in the mid-size SUV segment.
Sunday, 10 November 2024 12:48 AM The upcoming Mahindra XUV500 is expected to come with the same engine options as the Mahindra Thar, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, both available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. This should provide a good balance of power and fuel efficiency. I believe the addition of these engine options will make the XUV500 more appealing to a wider range of buyers.
Tuesday, 05 November 2024 07:10 AM Mahindra has discontinued the previous generation of the XUV500, which was known for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and comprehensive features like an electric sunroof, cruise control, and a premium sound system. The new model is expected to retain many of these features while introducing some new ones. I think the discontinuation was a necessary step to make way for a more modern and competitive offering.
Friday, 15 March 2024 11:44 AM The previous Mahindra XUV500 W10 (Diesel) was praised for its refined styling, neat interior trim, and generous storage space. It featured a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 103 kW and 330 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. I believe the new model will build on these strengths to offer an even better driving experience.
Tuesday, 05 March 2024 10:41 AM Mahindra had fine-tuned the rear suspension of the XUV500 in collaboration with Lotus, enhancing the ride comfort significantly. The vehicle also boasted a range of convenience features, including an electrically adjustable drivers seat, voice command control, and built-in navigation. I think this attention to detail will continue in the new model, making it a comfortable and feature-rich option.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 10:30 AM The Mahindra XUV500 4x4 W10 (Diesel) offers respectable mileage, which is crucial for Indian buyers concerned about running costs. Mahindra claims a fuel economy of around 12-14 kml, although real-world figures can vary. In practical terms, you can expect an average mileage of about 10-12 kml in mixed driving conditions. This is quite efficient for a vehicle of its size and capabilities, making it a good choice for both city driving and long road trips.

Mahindra XUV500 4x4 W10 (Diesel) Review

30 Jul, 2015 05:07 AM

Synopsis

Mahindra has gone far this time with its most effective offering, the XUV500. The all-time favourite has turned into a more complicated version of itself, receiving a facelift which was being planned from a long time ago. Every mechanical feature of the car remains the same, with the changes being only cosmetic throughout the trims. A new additional trim named W10 is also to be introduced, having more features than the mighty W8.

Exterior

The Mahindra XUV500 features the same body shell, with huge difference in its front fascia. The bumper has been totally below the headlights and the headlight too got everything new inside. The headlights are having an all S-shaped DRL, which also acts as a separator of low beam halogen light and the projector lamp being implanted. The honeycomb grill below the headlights have been replaced with a black and chrome finished fog lamp, which extends itself nearly to the headlight. Minor chrome inserts into the center grill looks fabulous.

Interior

The interior gets an all-new 7 inch touchscreen, DVD compatible infotainment system. The system turns in the reverse parking assistant when needed, with a functionality of zoom also available. The interior goes black and beige for the new offering, with the availability of a start/stop button also. All the other features of the XUV500 Xclusive edition have also been covered into the new version.

Engine & Performance

2015 Mahindra XUV500 retains its current mHawk140, Direct injection diesel engine with 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbo charger (VGT). The motor produces 140 BHP @ 3750 rpm and 330 NM @ 1600-2800 rpm. The 6-speed manual has been kept over, with no word on the automatic transmission. With a top speed of 175 kmph, the car returns a mileage of 13 kmpl.

Brakes & Suspension

The 2015 XUV500 comes with disc brakes for both front and rear wheels. The new version being a 4x4 and a 4x2 variant comes with the same configuration. The front suspension is the McPherson type with anti-roll bar and the rear gets Multilink type with anti-roll bar. The car gets driver and passenger side airbags with side and curtain airbags too. ABS has been kept standard on all the variants.

Shades

The new XUV500 is available in Pearl White, Opulent Purple, Moondust Silver, Volcano Black, Dolphin Grey, Tuscan Red and Sunset Orange.

Variants & Ex-showroom Price

The new face lifted XUV500 will be available in all the trims which are currently on sale, with an addition of the W10 trim. The W4 has been priced at INR 11.21 lakh and the W6 at INR 12.48 lakh. The W8 and W8 4WD has been priced at INR 14.18 lakh and 14.99 lakh whereas the new comer, W10 and W10 4WD is priced at 14.99 lakh and 15.99 lakh respectively.
