Mahindra TUV300 T8 (Diesel)

About
The Mahindra TUV300 T8 is built on Mahindras third-generation hydroformed ladder-frame platform, which provides a sturdy base for its rugged design. The vehicle is powered by a 1,493 cc three-cylinder mHawk 2-stage turbocharged diesel engine, producing 84 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. It comes with both manual and AMT transmission options, though the AMT is often criticized for its lack of refinement. The TUV300 T8 features a simple yet ergonomic interior design, decent build quality, and a range of features including a driver information system and voice alerts. It also offers ample space for passengers, although the rear row is best suited for children or occasional use. With its high ground clearance and robust suspension, the TUV300 T8 is well-suited for navigating Indias diverse road conditions, making it a reliable choice for both urban and rural driving.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra TUV300 T8, particularly the diesel variant, is a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses. On the positive side, it boasts a rugged and commanding design that stands out on Indian roads, along with a spacious cabin and high ground clearance, making it adept for both urban and rural terrain. The mHawk diesel engine, though not overly powerful, delivers sufficient torque for everyday driving and is particularly effective on hilly roads. However, the AMT transmission, while convenient for long drives, lacks refinement and can be frustrating in city driving due to noticeable lag and elasticity. Other drawbacks include engine noise, poor audio infotainment, and handling concerns, especially body roll during cornering. Despite these issues, the TUV300 T8 offers good value for money, especially for those who prioritize durability and off-road capability.
Price
In India, the Mahindra TUV300 T8 diesel variants ex-showroom price typically ranges between 9.5 lakhs to 10.5 lakhs, depending on the region and any additional features or trim levels. When factoring in on-road costs, including taxes, registration, and insurance, the price can escalate to around 11.5 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs. This pricing positions the TUV300 T8 competitively in the compact SUV segment, offering a robust and feature-rich package at a relatively affordable price. However, its crucial to check local dealerships for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, as it can vary.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 03:36 PM The Mahindra TUV300 T8, powered by the 1.5 litre mHAWK100 diesel engine, now comes with an automatic transmission (AMT) option, enhancing convenience for drivers. This variant is priced at around Rs. 11.20 lakh on-road in Delhi. It features remote central locking, manual air conditioner, and front cup holder. I think this AMT option will make the TUV300 more appealing to urban buyers.
Monday, 06 February 2023 08:02 AM Mahindra has updated the TUV300 range, making the more powerful mHAWK100 engine standard across all variants, including the T8. This engine produces 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque, significantly boosting the vehicles performance. This move is expected to attract more customers looking for a robust SUV. I believe this upgrade will make the TUV300 a stronger contender in its segment.
Tuesday, 27 December 2022 10:25 AM The Mahindra TUV300 T8 features advanced safety features such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), driver and passenger airbags, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. These enhancements make the vehicle safer for both drivers and passengers. I think these safety features are a big plus for families considering this SUV.
Thursday, 15 September 2022 06:35 AM In terms of comfort, the TUV300 T8 offers amenities like power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a rear defogger. However, it lacks features like a cooled glovebox and steering-mounted controls. Despite this, the vehicles practicality and spacious interior make it a comfortable choice for daily use. I think the lack of some premium features is balanced by its overall value.
Friday, 10 June 2022 11:24 PM The Mahindra TUV300 T8 has a seating capacity of seven people and offers a boot space of 384 litres. The vehicle is equipped with a 60-litre fuel tank and has a fuel efficiency of 18.49 kmpl. These specifications make it a viable option for large families or those who need ample space. I believe the TUV300s space and fuel efficiency are its strongest selling points.
Saturday, 26 March 2022 12:49 AM Mahindra has introduced parking sensors and a speed warning system in the TUV300 T8, enhancing the driving experience and safety. These features are particularly useful in urban driving conditions, making parking and speed management easier. I think these additions are very practical and user-friendly.
Friday, 21 January 2022 01:09 AM The TUV300 T8 comes with a manual air conditioner and lacks rear air conditioning vents, which might be a drawback for some buyers. However, the vehicles overall build quality and interior design are commendable. I believe the absence of rear AC vents is a minor trade-off for the vehicles robust build.
Monday, 15 November 2021 06:24 PM The Mahindra TUV300 T8 is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and features a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. The vehicles suspension includes a double wish-bone type independent front coil spring and a multi-link coil spring suspension with an anti-roll bar at the rear. This setup provides a smooth ride and stable handling. I think the suspension system is well-tuned for Indian roads.
Wednesday, 01 September 2021 07:20 AM Mahindra has ensured the TUV300 T8 meets safety standards with features like hill hold control and engine immobilizer. These additions enhance the vehicles security and stability, making it a reliable choice for buyers. I believe these safety features are essential and well-implemented.
Wednesday, 02 June 2021 12:20 AM The Mahindra TUV300 T8 is priced competitively in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price starting at around Rs. 9.82 lakh in Delhi. This pricing strategy aims to attract buyers looking for a robust and feature-packed SUV without breaking the bank. I think the pricing is quite aggressive and could attract a lot of buyers.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 03:00 PM The mileage of the Mahindra TUV300 T8 diesel is a significant consideration for potential buyers. According to user reviews and ARAI certifications, the TUV300 T8 manages an average of about 13-14 kmpl in city driving and up to 16 kmpl on long highway drives. While these figures are not the best in its class, they are reasonable given the vehicles weight and engine capacity. For those concerned about running costs, this mileage suggests that the TUV300 T8 is economical enough for regular use, especially if you frequently take long trips.

A Good Package From Mahindra

I was quite excited for this SUV from a very long time. It is a good effort by the Indian automaker and has an attractive price as compared to competitors. If we see other compact SUVs, it does drive well and has lots of space and features on offer. It is so spacious that it feels much bigger than its actual size. It has a very boxy design where the alloy wheels look very small and make the design feel incomplete. Its interior look modern and the color combination is quite good. There is lots of legroom at the rear and has enough space for three people. It has a third row with fold-able jump seats and there are no seat-belts. The seats are decently comfortable and overall visibility from the driver's seat is amazing. Its power delivery is good and it has very good low-end and mid-range punch. The top-end is lacking in performance. Braking performance of this SUV is decent but the brake pedal lacks feel. The brakes feel spongy although they do manage to stop the vehicle efficiently. The company has good number of service stations so TUV300 buyers need not worry about servicing.

One of the Best Deals for the Budget Buyers

I was planning to buy EcoSport but because of its five seat configuration, I dropped my plan. Then I thought about 7-seater SUVs but they were out of my budget. But thanks to my friend he suggested me TUV300 and now I am going to book this. Its aggressive look and bold styling give its strong presence on the road. It has high ground clearance and side-foot steps make its convenient for the passenger. I like its interior too which is designed by dual tone dashboard and the premium fabric upholstery. It has two seat arrangement at the third row which is comfortable for kids as well as adult with average built. The headroom and legroom is just wonderful for the stress free ride. Most of it, company has claimed its mileage around 18 kmpl which I think is a decent figure for a SUV. I am very happy with its launch and now waiting for its booking.
