Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Review

Expert Review by Maxabout

The Range Rover Evoque appears stunning in the flesh. Its raked back profile and modern lines makes it stand out in the daily Mumbai traffic, and this an entirely new direction for Range Rover. Typically, Land Rover brings in a new sport-utility automobile to the world while on the other hand, Range Rover Evoque made its gland debut smartening alongside Posh Spice. You see, the association with Mrs. Beckham was constantly consulted in the designing of this new vehicle. Though as you guessed, her input had to do more with color blending than transmission programming, this association alone should inform you that this new Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a speck different from the norm of Land Rover.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is the lone model within the increasing compact luxury SUV section that offers two different body approaches; a two-door model called the Coupe and a traditional four-door model. It also offers complementary roof colors, three “design themes” for further customization and myriad interior color combinations. Both the two- door and four-door models come in a solitary trim level called Pure. However, there are design themes called Dynamic and Prestige that often alter the Evoque cosmetically, using different color choices, materials and design flourishes.

The interiors are lovable; especially the soft touch facade on the dash board and the way each thing feels expensive. The cabin is comfy with seats and steering wheel that are highly adjustable. However, the giant wing mirrors obstruct forward vision and the tiny squab of the back seats in not ideal. Apart from that, the cabin is a great place to be sat in as it is very accommodating with loads of leg room and ample head room. The Evoque also has a huge panoramic sunroof as well.

Engine and Gearbox

The Evoque features modernized underpinnings from Land Rover LR2, however from that fairly disappointing DNA group, spawns a substantially superior vehicle. Rather than the inefficient and lethargic inline-6 of the LR2, the Evoque has a turbocharged, 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine that creates fuel economy together with class competitive power. The 2179cc engine creates 420 nm of torque and 187 bhp which delivers power in a linear manner. However, it does not feel very fast and its auto six-speed paddle-shift could have been better.

Range Rover Evoque is available in four variants: Petrol coupe Dynamic, Diesel Pure, Diesel Prestige and Diesel Dynamic.

The standard equipment in the Pure include the Land Rover Terrain Response, 19 inch wheels, hill start assist, automatic wipers, front and rear fog lights, a rear view camera, a power lift gate, rear and front parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, automatic dual zone climate control, keyless ignition, a telescoping- and-tilt steering wheel, leather upholstery, power front seats (four-way passenger and six way driver), auto dimming rear view mirror, touch screen electronics interface, Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, and a sound system with 11 speakers, a CD player, two USB audio jacks and an auxiliary audio jack.

The Pure Premium package attaches in adaptive xenon headlamps with LED accents and automatic high beams, blind spot warning system, keyless entry/ignition, a 360-degrees parking camera, a navigation system and a audio system with a seventeen- speaker surround-sound and a ten-CD changer. For those who do not need all this, they can take the Pure Plus that has a vision assist pack up that has xenon headlamps, camera parking systems and a blind spot warning.

The Dynamic package contains all the equipment of Pure Premium, but it has a sportier ambience that features 19 inch wheels, a rear skid plate, dissimilar trim inside and out, perforated leather and different color choices. The Adaptive Dynamics package attaches an adaptive suspension and a contrasting color roof to the Dynamic package.

The Prestige package (four-door only) is comparable in concept to Dynamic, but is has more luxurious design items. The prestige also gets richer with additional front seat adjustments and more supple leather.

Every Evoque can also be equipped with elective satellite and HD radio and 20-inch wheels. These vehicles can also be equipped with a Climate Comfort package that is comprised of heating for steering wheels, windshield and windshield washer jets. All except the base Pure Plus have a possibility to be equipped with rear seat amusement system.

Ride and Handling

Despite having the most safe and sound off road qualifications, Range Rover Evoque is intended for an on-road life. It’s impressively agile, which makes it stand on the same league with other compact sporting SUVs. This ride is also superb in line with the true Land Rover tradition. All these are amplified when one specifies the Adaptive Dynamic package. This package also comes with the handling dynamics and adjustable suspension for a better ride. Placing a 4-cylinder engine in a vehicle of the Range Rover statue might seem like a formula for epic slowness. The Range Rover Evoque also has lesser mass to motivate as it weighs several hundred pounds lesser than most its competitors.

Range Rover Evoque is available in 11 attractive shades: Fuji White, Indus Silver, Santorini Black, Galway Green, Orkney Grey, Sumatra Black, Ipanema Sand, Firenze Red, Colima Lime, Baltic Blue and Buckingham Blue.

It is not the most realistic SUV on earth, but the Range Rover Evoque has refined driving manners, lots of style and the traditional off-road talents of the Land Rover making it an appealing SUV.
