About
The Fiat 500L MultiAir is a compact MPV that stands out for its spacious and airy interior. It boasts 121 cubic feet of interior space, making it one of the roomiest vehicles in its class. The design is quirky yet functional, with large windows and a unique A-pillar configuration that enhances visibility. The interior is cheerful and perky, with contrasting colors and textures, although the front seats could use more support. The 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine produces 160 horsepower but suffers from turbo lag and noise. The vehicle comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and features like the Uconnect infotainment system and Beats Audio speakers. Safety features include multiple airbags, ESC, and ABS. While it may not be the most powerful or refined vehicle, the 500Ls spaciousness, visibility, and unique design make it an interesting option for those needing a practical and comfortable family car.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Fiat 500L MultiAir is a vehicle that presents a mixed bag of features and performance. On the positive side, it offers an astonishing amount of interior space, with 121 cubic feet of room that makes it ideal for families or those needing ample cargo space. The visibility is excellent, thanks to the large windows and the unique A-pillar design, which provides a nearly 360-degree view. However, the 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine, while producing 160 horsepower, is marred by significant turbo lag and a loud operation, making it feel underpowered and strained, especially when accelerating. The suspension and steering also leave much to be desired, with a floaty ride and rubbery steering feel. Despite these drawbacks, the 500Ls spacious interior, good visibility, and unique design make it a consideration for those prioritizing room and comfort over performance.
Price
In India, the Fiat 500L was expected to be launched in 2015, but it never materialized. However, if we consider the global pricing as a benchmark, the ex-showroom price would likely have been around 15-20 lakhs, given the base price in the US was around 23,000. The on-road price would have been higher, possibly in the range of 18-25 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing would have positioned the 500L as a competitive option in the compact MPV segment, offering a lot of space and features at a relatively affordable price.

Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 03:41 AM
The mileage of the Fiat 500L in India would have been a crucial factor for buyers. With a fuel economy rating of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, the 500L is not particularly impressive in terms of fuel efficiency. However, for its size and the space it offers, these numbers are reasonable. In Indian driving conditions, one could expect around 15-20 kml in city driving and up to 25 kml on the highway, making it a moderate choice in terms of running costs.
