The Eicher-Polaris project on a compact multifunctional diesel vehicle has ended with the introduction of MultiX. The small looking smart vehicle comes with many functions and features apart from being a pickup truck. It comes with a whole new approach, making it different from every possible point of view. According to the company, the car plays the same different roles in life as being played by a human in his life span. The mini truck is really a mini sized vehicle, with different seat options according to the need of time.

Design & Style

The MultiX comes with a very innovative and attractive design, different from others in the segment. What all you can guess by viewing it from the front is that it’s a cute small car, looking more like a hybrid or electric powered vehicle. The edgy looking headlight id actually just a round headlight with the surrounding painted in order to get a more aggressive face out of this mini pickup. The tall boy design gets a rough cladding around itself and forms a total tough looking structure. The rear, which is the major attraction of the MultiX, consists of an optional 3 passenger seat which can be folded for a large boot space and that too with again an option of covered or open space. The soft top back makes it look totally different from the open pickup styling.

Engine & Performance

The mini pickup comes with a really underpowered engine, whose specifications sound more like non practical figures for a full size 5 passenger carrier and not just that a considerably big boot space for a lot of load. The 510.7 cc engine is producing 9.8 BHP @ 3000 rpm and 27.1 NM @ 1400-2200 rpm. The torque value is still digestible and makes the little champion capable of performing its changing duties. The 4-speed manual gearbox with the pickup distributes the power reasonably among all gears. The fuel tank for the pickup is 11.5 litre, making it limited for shorter routes only. The impressive 28.45 kmpl mileage makes it a mileage champion for sure.

Brakes & Suspension

The MultiX comes with hydraulic drum brakes for the front and rear wheels. The braking seems to be on the loose side as proving at least one pair of tyres with disc brakes could easily and efficiently reduce the braking distance. The suspension at the front are hydraulic, McPherson Strut whereas the rear has hydraulic double wish bone type. The load carrier comes with an all road appeal, although its engine is not ready for the same. The ride is easy on bumpy roads as it has a huge 225 mm of road clearance, making it ready for nearly all kind of terrain.

Dimensions & Variants

The ride measures 3235 mm in length, 1585 mm in width and 1856 mm in height. It comes with 2005 mm of wheelbase and a dry weight of 750 kg. With its 3.93 meters of turning radius, the MultiX is a perfect partner for city traffic conditions. It comes in two variants, a fully loaded one and a totally basic one. The MultiX team named them as the MX and the AX+ respectively. The fully loaded variant comes with side doors and roof, whereas the basic version misses on these also.

Special Features

The MultiX comes with a 3 in 1 approach. It works as a passenger carrier when all the seats are aligned. It works as a goods carrier when the rear seats are down. The third and the most important option come out in the form of generator. Whenever you need an extra power boost, the MultiX comes forward as a diesel generator which can generate up to 3 Kw of power, lightning you house whenever the power is down.

Shades & Ex-showroom Price

The MultiX comes in Grey and White shades for the AX+ variant whereas the MX variant is available in Yellow, Red, White and Grey shade. The price of the AX+ is INR 2,32,000 whereas the fully loaded MX comes for INR 2,72,000.
