Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?
03 February 2025 07:31
I do not believe cannibalization will be a large issue. Buyers for the XUV900 and XUV700 will be different. The one is for the family oriented customer and the other for someone who wants to make a style statement.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?
03 February 2025 07:31
Of course it'll cannibalize sales! In other words, Mahindra is competing with itself here. Instead, they should have worked on the XUV700 and not released a new model so soon.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?

It's all about market segmentation. Indeed, if Mahindra can position the XUV900 as a more premium offering than the XUV700, it can actually help upsell customers who were thinking of buying the top end of the XUV700.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?

I was planning to buy the XUV700 and the XUV900 has surely made me rethink that. I may wait to see what other features it offers. It's inevitable that some cannibalization occurs.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?

I think we’re overestimating the overlap here. The XUV900 has polarizing coupe styling. This will then draw its own niche of buyers who would never have considered the XUV700.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?

Cannibalization isn't always bad. That’s a win for Mahindra if they can keep customers within their brand by giving them more choices. Losing customers to competitors is better than cannibalizing your own sales.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?
03 February 2025 07:31
The real question is whether Mahindra can produce enough to satisfy the demand for both? If they can't deliver XUV700s on time, launching XUV900 will probably just anger the customers further.
Will sales of the Mahindra XUV900 cannibalise XUV700?

Let's not forget pricing. If the XUV900 is too much more expensive, it might actually make the XUV700 look an even better value proposition. In the end, it could increase sales of both models.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.
03 February 2025 07:31
I believe that Mahindra made a wise decision by opting for the coupe design. Yes, you might lose some headroom, but the XUV900 will appear unique in a sea of boxy SUVs. And sometimes style is worth the tradeoff.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.
03 February 2025 07:31
Practicality? Gone out the window! This coupe design is form over function and Indian families need space. Any day, I would rather have a proper SUV.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.

It's all about balance. If Mahindra has done its homework, it can come up with a stylish and practical coupe SUV. The BMW X6 is able to do it.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.

I'm worried about visibility. Sure, that sloping roofline might look cool, but it'll be a pain trying to reverse or change lanes in heavy traffic.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.

Mahindra is getting underestimated here. They know the Indian market. They must have figured out ways to make the best use of the space despite the coupe design. We should wait and see before judging.
The Mahindra XUV900 will be a coupe and that raises the question of practicality.
03 February 2025 07:31
The real question is: do we need another coupe SUV? Manufacturers seem to be just following trends without taking into account what the consumers really need. I would rather see innovation in electric vehicles or in fuel efficiency.
Is the Mahindra XUV900 the hype it’s being made out to be?
03 February 2025 07:31
The XUV900 is definitely worth the hype. This could be Mahindra’s crowning achievement, as they have been stepping up their game lately. This is something new in the coupe-SUV design in the Indian market.
Is the Mahindra XUV900 the hype it’s being made out to be?
03 February 2025 07:31
Nah, it's another overpriced SUV. This has been seen before with the XUV700. Initial hype, then quality issues. I don’t want to get too excited about it until I see how it performs in the real world.
Is the Mahindra XUV900 the hype it’s being made out to be?
03 February 2025 07:31
Worth the hype? Maybe. Worth the price? Probably not. Mahindra always launch their vehicles at an overprice. I would wait a year and then buy it when the prices inevitably drop.

I have been a long time Mahindra owner and I can say that their build quality has improved a lot. The XUV900 could be a winner if they price it right and provide good after sales service.
Is the Mahindra XUV900 the hype it’s being made out to be?
03 February 2025 07:31
The question is whether we really need another SUV in the market. I believe that every manufacturer is just making SUVs and not really innovating with them. Mahindra, show me something truly revolutionary.
Is the Mahindra XUV900 the hype it’s being made out to be?

I'm cautiously optimistic. The XUV700 was a step in the right direction, and if they have taken note of what went wrong during that launch, the XUV900 could be amazing. We should not forget, however, that Mahindra has a history of overpromising and underdelivering.
