About
The 2012 BMW 5 Series Petrol 535i is a robust and feature-rich luxury sedan that caters to both comfort and performance. Powered by a 3.0-liter N55 turbocharged inline-6 engine, it produces 306 horsepower, making it adept for both daily commuting and spirited driving. The car comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, enhancing its driving dynamics. The interior is plush, with high-quality materials and advanced technology features such as navigation, rear camera, and park distance control. The 535i also boasts comfortable seating and a refined ride, although the Adaptive Suspension can be a bit of a letdown in terms of steering feel and handling precision. Overall, its a solid choice for those seeking a powerful and luxurious driving experience, but it may not be the best fit for everyone, especially those who prioritize handling and steering feedback.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The 2012 BMW 5 Series Petrol 535i is a compelling choice for those seeking a blend of luxury, performance, and driving dynamics. However, my experience with this model has been mixed. The engine, powered by the N55 turbocharged inline-6, is undeniably strong and responsive, making it a joy to drive aggressively. Yet, the steering and handling, particularly with the Adaptive Suspension, left much to be desired. The steering feel was not as natural or confident as I would expect from a BMW, especially in high-speed turns and lane changes. This made the driving experience less engaging compared to other BMW models Ive driven. If you prioritize raw power and are willing to overlook some handling quirks, the 535i could be a good fit, but for a more balanced driving experience, the M-Sport package with passive suspension is highly recommended.
Price
In India, the 2012 BMW 5 Series Petrol 535i was priced competitively within the luxury segment. The ex-showroom price for this model was around Rs. 56 lakh to Rs. 60 lakh, depending on the trim and options chosen. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, would have been closer to Rs. 70 lakh to Rs. 75 lakh. While these prices are significant, they reflect the cars premium features, advanced technology, and the brands reputation for quality and performance. However, its important to note that these prices are for the time of its launch, and current market prices for a used 2012 model would be substantially lower.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 05:13 PM
The mileage of the 2012 BMW 5 Series Petrol 535i is a consideration for those mindful of running costs. With an ARAI-certified mileage of around 10.6 kmpl, this car is not the most fuel-efficient option. However, given its powerful engine and the nature of its use, this mileage is reasonable. In real-world driving conditions, you can expect slightly lower figures, but it remains a viable choice for those who value performance over fuel economy.
