Bentley Mulsanne
General information and overview
The Bentley Mulsanne, tailored for India's luxury market, features a 6.75-litre V8 petrol engine with 505-506 bhp, 1020 Nm torque, 8-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive, hitting 305 kmph while prioritising serene cruising over sportiness. Discontinued yet iconic, its India-specific appeal lies in vast rear space with massage seats, memory functions, 360-degree cameras, and bespoke interiors from 625 colours, ideal for Mumbai-Delhi executive transfers. Ex-showroom at ₹5.56 Crore, it rivals Cullinan in prestige but excels in sedan elegance; I see it as a buy for those valuing handcrafted heritage, with strong used availability ensuring accessibility despite fuel thirst.
The Bentley Mulsanne defines ultra-luxury sedans in India with its 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 505-506 bhp and 1020 Nm torque, paired to an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive for a top speed of 305 kmph. Launched around 2010 at lower prices but now listed at ₹5.56 Crore ex-showroom, it emphasizes handcrafted elegance with features like massage seats, memory functions, adjustable headrests, and 360-degree camera, available in 625 bespoke colours. Spacious and comfortable for four, it excels in long Indian drives with supreme ride quality, though discontinued in Bentley's current lineup favouring SUVs like Bentayga—still, used or remaining stock appeals to buyers valuing sedan poise over modern tech. I see it as ideal for those prioritizing prestige and rear-seat indulgence in a market shifting to SUVs, with strong performance outweighing modest 5.91-10.1 kmpl efficiency.
Expert opinion and recommendation
I find the Bentley Mulsanne to be the ultimate statement of opulent engineering, delivering unmatched rear-seat luxury that's perfect for India's elite chauffeured lifestyle where presence matters more than daily commutes. Its towering 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 churns out 505 bhp and a staggering 1020 Nm of torque, propelling this 2.6-tonne behemoth to a 305 kmph top speed with effortless grace on open highways like those from Mumbai to Pune. In India, I appreciate how its handcrafted interiors—think diamond-quilted leather, 625 colour options, and massage seats—elevate long drives through Delhi's chaos or Bengaluru's traffic into regal experiences, outshining rivals like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan in sheer sedan poise. Though discontinued, its last recorded specs make it a collector's gem for those buying used, offering timeless Bentley prestige without modern EV compromises. For buyers seeking a buying decision anchor, I recommend it if your priority is wafting in supreme comfort; maintenance costs are high, but the investment holds value among India's luxury connoisseurs who value heritage over mileage.
I find the Bentley Mulsanne to be the pinnacle of opulent sedans for those who demand unmatched luxury in India, where its handcrafted interiors and effortless power make every drive a statement of refined taste. With a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 505 bhp and 1020 Nm of torque, it glides to a top speed of 305 kmph while cocooning you in supreme comfort via massage seats, memory functions, and a 360-degree camera. In India's diverse roads, its rear-wheel-drive setup and automatic transmission handle urban congestion and highways with poise, though its vast size calls for a skilled chauffeur. Ownership here means embracing exclusivity over practicality, as running costs are steep but justified by the bespoke experience that outshines rivals like Rolls-Royce Cullinan in sheer presence. I recommend it if your priority is prestige and passenger pampering over daily usability, making it a compelling buy for India's elite seeking timeless grandeur.

Pricing details and changes
In India, the Bentley Mulsanne's ex-showroom price stands at ₹5.56 Crore for its sole V8 Petrol Automatic variant, as per the last recorded figures before discontinuation, making it a benchmark for ultra-luxury sedans. On-road prices vary by city due to taxes and insurance—for instance, in Mansa it's around ₹5.84 Crore including ₹27.8 lakh insurance with minimal other charges like FASTag, while in Nazira it climbs with ₹38.92 lakh road tax and ₹5.56 lakh TCS to about ₹6 Crore, and in major hubs like Delhi or Mumbai, expect ₹6.4-6.85 Crore factoring higher RTO and safety cess. I view this pricing as justified for the Mulsanne's peerless craftsmanship; compared to competitors like the ₹6.95 Crore Cullinan or ₹4 Crore Ferrari F8, it offers superior space and serenity at a competitive entry into Bentley's realm. For buying decisions, factor in used market savings—pre-owned units dip below ₹3-4 Crore—offsetting steep running costs, but resale holds strong among India's high-net-worth buyers who prioritise exclusivity over bargains.
In India, the Bentley Mulsanne's ex-showroom price stands firmly at ₹5.56 Crore for its sole V8 Petrol Automatic variant, reflecting its positioning as a halo luxury sedan with no current updates or variants listed. On-road prices vary by city due to insurance, registration, and local taxes—for instance, in Mansa it's around ₹5.84 Crore including ₹27.8 lakh insurance, while in Delhi it reaches ₹6.40 Crore, Mumbai ₹6.57 Crore, Bengaluru ₹6.85 Crore, and Ahmedabad ₹6.24 Crore, with other charges like FASTag often at zero. I view this pricing as a premium investment rather than a cost, perfectly aligned with its handcrafted British heritage and customization options up to 625 paint shades; compared to competitors like Rolls-Royce Cullinan at ₹6.95 Crore ex-showroom or Lamborghini Huracan starting lower at ₹3.22 Crore, the Mulsanne offers superior sedan luxury value for long-distance comfort in India. For buyers, factor in high insurance due to its value and import status, but resale holds strong among collectors—opt for it if budget allows, as it depreciates gracefully in the ultra-luxury segment.
Fuel efficiency information
I note the Mulsanne's ARAI-rated 10.1 kmpl petrol mileage drops to real-world 5.9-6 kmpl in India's stop-go traffic, leading to high running costs of ₹15-20 per km at current fuel prices. For mileage-focused buyers, it's impractical—opt for it only if chauffeur-driven luxury trumps efficiency, as costs suit unlimited budgets.
In India, the Mulsanne's ARAI-rated mileage hovers between 5.91-10.1 kmpl for its 6.75-litre V8 petrol, but real-world figures drop to 6 kmpl in city-highway mix amid fuel quality and traffic. Running costs are exorbitant at ₹15-20 per km with premium fuel, so I advise against it if mileage concerns you—choose only if luxury trumps efficiency, as alternatives like Bentayga offer marginally better at 8.6 kmpl.
