Is Yamaha Fazer 250cc (Fazer 25) a good bike?
17 April 2025 12:30

The Yamaha Fazer 250cc is a solid choice for those seeking a balance of performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency. It is powered by a 249cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine that produces 20.9 PS of power at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The bike features a 5-speed transmission, telescopic fork suspension at the front and a swingarm at the rear, and comes with disc brakes on both wheels, although earlier models lacked ABS. It has a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters and an ARAI-certified mileage of 43 kmpl. The bike's dimensions include a seat height of 795 mm, ground clearance of 160 mm, and a kerb weight of 148 kg. While it was discontinued in India in 2020, its specifications and features make it a viable option for those looking for a sporty and agile motorcycle with good fuel economy.

Is Yamaha Fazer 250cc (Fazer 25) good for long drive?
17 April 2025 12:30

The Yamaha Fazer 250cc can be a good option for long drives, especially if you are comfortable cruising at speeds under 100 km/h. It offers good low-end to mid-range torque, manageable engine heat, and a moderately comfortable pillion seat. The bike also provides good fuel efficiency, with a mileage of 40-43 kmpl on highways and 35-38 kmpl in the city. However, it is important to note that the bike experiences vibrations above 100 km/h, which can restrict comfortable cruising speeds. Additionally, the suspension is slightly stiffer, which might make rides over potholed roads a bit uncomfortable. Despite these limitations, the Fazer 25 is well-suited for touring if you prefer a more relaxed pace.

For sure it's more of a weekend bike for me. Stop and go traffic is no fun for the engine. It’s really good on twisty roads.

I have mine for commuting and it's great. It’s comfortable, nimble in traffic, and has enough power to get out of sticky situations.

It's a perfect 50/50 split. That’s what it’s so great about. You can commute all week and then head to the canyons on the weekends without compromise.

It’s a bit overkill as a commuter. There is no point in having 100+ horsepower to get to work. It's not quite sporty enough to be a true weekend carver though.
Which is better, the Fazer8 as a commuter or a weekend warrior?

I think it's more towards the weekend warrior side. It’s more than enough power and handling for a commute, but it’s just right for fun rides.

This is the ultimate do it all bike. I have done everything from commuting daily to long weekend trips on mine. Versatility is its strength.

It's a better commuter for me. It has great upright ergonomics and a smooth engine that makes it great for dealing with traffic. A pure sport bike is not as sharp in the twisties.
Which is better, the Fazer8 as a commuter or a weekend warrior?

It's about 60% weekend bike, 40% commuter I'd say. It's a little sportier than a Versys, but a little more practical than a supersport for everyday riding.
How does the Fazer8 fare in 2025? Is it still relevant?

In 2025, it is still a great bike. Of course, it isn't a fancy model with all the up to date electronics, but that’s part of its charm. It's pure riding.

I think it is starting to show its age. Lacking rider aids such as traction control and cornering ABS, it feels a bit 20th century in its approach to engine braking.

So if you're after a no frills do it all bike, it's still relevant. Not all of the latest tech gadgets on a motorcycle are needed or wanted by everyone.

The bike itself is still brilliant, but finding parts is getting more difficult. The biggest downside of sticking with an older model in 2025 is that.

It's a classic now! The Fazer8 has aged well like a fine wine. It has character that a lot of these new computerized bikes do not have.

It depends on what you’re after I think. If you’re after the newest and best, no, it doesn’t apply. However, if you’re after a solid, reliable all rounder, it’s hard to beat the Fazer8.
