Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?
17 January 2025 07:48
The Taurus was in a league of its own, no way. It's that thumping diesel sound, and that sheer novelty, that can't be replicated. The Scimitar is cool, but it's not a proper successor.
Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?
17 January 2025 07:48
I disagree. The Taurus could have been the Scimitar with modern technology. It is carrying the torch for diesel bikes in India, just with better performance and efficiency.
Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?

Both of you are missing the point. The Taurus was a commuter bike and the Scimitar is more of an adventure tourer. They are aimed at entirely different markets.
Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?
17 January 2025 07:48
Spiritual successor? Maybe. I do believe the Scimitar has the ability to be far more successful than the Taurus was. It's better tech and more versatile.

The only thing they have in common is the diesel engine, let’s be real. The Scimitar is its own beast and we should celebrate it for what it is, not what it brings to mind.
Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?

It's more an evolution than a successor. The Taurus learned from its mistakes and the Scimitar improved on the concept. This is the next step in diesel bike development.
Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?

So who cares about spiritual successors? The real question is if the Scimitar can make its own legacy. It’s got potential, but it has to prove itself on Indian roads.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?
17 January 2025 07:48
Absolutely! This makes it perfect for long trips through rural India where fuel quality can be iffy, just for the multi fuel capability. Plus, it’s military grade tough so it can take on anything the roads can throw at it.

It's way too heavy and uncomfortable for long distance touring, no way. You’d be better off with something like a Royal Enfield Himalayan which is built for long rides.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?

It could work, you'd just need to mod it first. Add a larger fuel tank, add some nice seats, and add proper luggage mounts. You'd then have the ultimate pan India tourer.

You forget about maintenance. If you break down in the middle of nowhere and have a diesel engine, good luck finding a mechanic who can work on it. Keep it more common.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?

I would take it just because it is unique. Touring India on a diesel bike? Imagine the stories you’d have. It’s not the most practical, but it would be one hell of an adventure.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?
17 January 2025 07:48
Most of India doesn't need that. A standard 400-500cc bike would do unless you're planning to go seriously off road, but it would be a hell of a lot more comfortable.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?
17 January 2025 07:48
Why not? It's got range, it's got durability and it's got the cool factor. It’s not as comfy as a big touring bike, but it’ll go where others can’t. It’s perfect for covering every corner of India.
The Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel might be the dark horse of Indian motorcycle industry.
17 January 2025 07:48
Definitely a dark horse! Its unique features could be the draw card for a loyal fan base amongst adventure riders and rural users. It won’t rule the world, but it could corner a nice market slice.

No way. It is too niche to have a real impact. It's a cool bike, but it'll never go toe to toe with the big boys in terms of sales or influence.
The Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel might be the dark horse of Indian motorcycle industry.

You're both wrong. But its real value is in pushing innovation. It may not sell in huge numbers, but it may inspire other manufacturers to play with alternative fuels and rugged designs.
The Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel might be the dark horse of Indian motorcycle industry.

Dark horse? More like a white elephant. Diesel is on its way out and this bike will be obsolete before it sees any real traction. Electric should have been the focus of Altius.
The Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel might be the dark horse of Indian motorcycle industry.
17 January 2025 07:48
I believe it has potential, but Altius has to play their cards right. Team up with larger dealers, land some high profile endorsements and really promote the bike's USP. If it could be, it would be a game changer.

It's too soon to tell. First let’s see how it does in real world. If it is what it promises to be, it could be a gamechanger.
