Honda Activa 4G Review

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Honda Activa, the scooter from a Japanese manufacturer has always been popular among the customers in India since its release some 14 years back. It is always getting much hype as a famous unisex scooter all due to these reasons: It is been in the market long enough for people to get familiarize with its name, it requires low maintenance, has got minimalistic looks, the engine is smooth and refined, this makes people believe that it's a quality bike.

Honda Activa was a real game changer back then, when it was launched in India. Majority of the bikes available back then were geared bikes. Activa was automatic, it was much easier to ride. No hassle of changing gears and using clutch. It is also easy to learn to ride such 2-wheeler.

There have been many advancements in The Honda Activa since its release. New Honda Activa 4G was launched in mid of March 2017. Basically it is not much different from the earlier version Activa 3G, only a few minimal advancements have been made. The front center cover has been given a new look while Honda has equipped the same with mobile charging socket for added utility.

The market price of Activa 4G is INR 50,800 including the recently added GST. 2017 model comes with a BS4 compliant engine and AHO feature. Activa 4G is powered by 109.2cc, Air cooled, 4 stroke, SI, BS IV engine with the maximum power of 8 bhp @ 7500 rpm, 9 Nm @ 5500 rpm of torque with automatic gears and a fuel capacity of 5.3 litres giving an average speed of 83 kmph.

It has an analogue instrument console and highly rigid under bone type chassis. Activa 4G now comes with two new shades: Matt Selene Silver Metallic and Matte Axis Grey Metallic. The scooter retains the important features like tubeless tyres, Combined Braking System(CBS) and Honda Eco Technology.

Honda Activa 4G is one of the vehicles in India to get an early BS4 (Bharat Stage 4) engine as it has been recently launched in India on 1st April 2017. BS4 engines define the level of emission a vehicle can emit. BS3 vehicles emit more nitrogen and other compounds while BS4 norms restrict the amount of gases from the exhaust.

The value for BS3 was 1gm/km while BS4 had 0.75 g/km within the same conditions. All it takes it better equipment and BS3 engine can be converted to BS4 in the production line. The Indian Govt has regulated a law that only BS4 engine will be passed by the dealerships on the bikes. This does not mean that the previous vehicles with BS3 engine would be illegal to use considering you have all the necessary documents.

The new added feature AHO represents All-Time Headlight On which is a law Indian Government has made mandatory for automakers to keep the headlights on through both day and night for reducing the risks of accidents in dust, foggy weather or in low light conditions. This was one independent criteria which now make Indian bikes road legal from April 1, 2017 but the bikes with no AHO feature still remain legal to drive across roads.

The new Honda Activa 4G may not have much advancements in its technology but the AHO feature and the very much needed mobile charging port makes it stand out as usual as compared to other scooters and the stunning new color details is rather bound to grab attention.

Honda Activa 4G looks cool in its style. The wide comfortable seat makes it best suited for both Men and women and easy handling has made Activa an unmovable rock in Indian Scooter market.

Quite impressive and smooth

The overall buying experience of the Honda Activa 4G is good. It has an attractive design and good mileage of 30-35 km/l. I have been regularly riding it for 28-30 kms daily and only two servicing has been done so far. The Honda engine is quite impressive, smooth and provides a good pickup. The braking is also quite effective. The only issue is the mono shock rear suspension, which makes it jump up badly even on small bumps or in small holes.

Pros:
- Very good engine
- Smooth running
- Good Pickup

Cons:
- Poor mono rear suspension

Poor mileage

The Honda Activa 4G is a good scooter for any user looking for a reliable and affordable ride. The smaller diameter tires, compared to the Aprilia 150, can lead to some slipping on sharp turns, but this can be avoided by being extra vigilant when maneuvering. The mileage is quite poor, averaging around 35-40 kmpl. However, after the second service, the ride becomes smoother and the experience is a lot more enjoyable. The Honda Activa 4G is a great option for those looking for a reliable ride without breaking the bank.

Does not offer much for its price

Honda Activa 4G has a strong body and that is its only advantage. However, the mileage is just 28km per litre which is a major downside. The servicing and maintenance is not up to the mark, and the suspension is not great. Furthermore, none of the showrooms provide the front inner box in the accessories, which is included in the price. All in all, the Honda Activa 4G does not offer much for its price.

Equipped with a powerful engine that provides a smooth ride

Riding on the Honda Activa 4G is quite comfortable. It is equipped with a powerful engine that provides a smooth ride. The white paint quality of the scooter is not too good and it gets easily scratched even after taking care. The scooter also makes vibrations when it is driven at a speed of 40-50 kmph. The pillion seating is not too comfortable either. I was quite satisfied after I bought this scooter. The mileage I got from the Honda Activa 4G in the first 3 months was around 40 kmpl.

The headlights and tail lights are really cool and the height of the body is comfortable for me. The ride experience is also great and it has a good mileage. Maintenance and service are excellent as well. The price is also quite reasonable and I would definitely recommend everyone to buy it.

I was particularly disappointed in my experience with the Honda Activa 4G. It was a struggle to start the vehicle every morning, with the kick start problem taking up to twenty minutes. Even when the vehicle started, it would stop randomly while running. I had to make numerous complaints in the first three months and I was left feeling dissatisfied. It felt like I had wasted my money, as it was the exact opposite of the "invest money and get a headache free" situation I had hoped for.

The Honda Activa 4G is a really nice scooter that has maintained its mileage of 60kmph even after two years of use. It is very helpful for daily use, as it is reliable and has a good performance. Additionally, the Activa 4G is also known for its fuel efficiency, which is great for saving money. Overall, it is a great scooter to have for daily use.

I have been using my Honda Activa 4G for the past few months and it has been a great experience. I bought it for my personal use and it is mostly used for weekend trips. I have been taking good care of it by washing it regularly and riding at an economical speed. However, I have encountered some problems with it. Recently, it has been taking a lot of effort to start it, and on some days I have had to take public transport due to this. It also vibrates a lot when I ride it. I am disappointed with the performance of this scooter and I hope Honda can do something about it. I believe in the brand and I don't want to see it lose its reputation due to this.
