Volkswagen Taigun Prices Reduced by Over Rs 1 Lakh

Volkswagen is gearing up to introduce new GT variants for the Taigun. Before that, the German automaker reduced the prices of certain variants of the Taigun compact SUV, making them more affordable by up to Rs 1.1 lakh. However, these discounted prices are available for a limited time only. The updated costs for each impacted version are as follows:

Price Adjustments

  • The entry-level Comfortline 1-litre MT variant now costs Rs 11 lakh, down from Rs 11.70 lakh, marking a Rs 70,000 reduction.
  • The GT Plus Chrome 1.5-litre DCT variant is now priced at Rs 18.69 lakh, a decrease of Rs 75,000 from the original Rs 19.44 lakh.
  • The GT Plus Chrome 1.5-litre DCT with added features has seen a significant price cut of Rs 1.05 lakh, now available at Rs 18.69 lakh from Rs 19.74 lakh.
  • The GT Plus Edge Automatic variants, including the Deep Black Pearl and Carbon Steel Grey (matte) versions, are now priced at Rs 18.90 lakh, down from Rs 19.64 lakh to Rs 19.70 lakh, resulting in savings of up to Rs 80,000.
  • The 1.5 GT Plus Edge DCT with additional features has seen the largest reduction, with a new price of Rs 18.90 lakh, down from Rs 19.94 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, saving buyers up to Rs 1.1 lakh.

Volkswagen has dropped Rs 70,000 off the sticker price of the Taigun's entry-level Comfortline 1-liter turbo-petrol manual model. The top-spec GT Plus automatic trim, however, is now more reasonably priced at Rs 1.05 lakh. Additionally, the prices of the GT Plus Edge automatic trims, including Deep Black Pearl and Carbon Matte Grey variants, have been reduced by up to Rs 1.1 lakh. All of these variants are currently offered at an attractive price of Rs 18.90 lakh.

Features & Safety

The higher-spec GT Plus variants of the Volkswagen Taigun are equipped with amenities like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic AC, and a single-pane sunroof. Variants with added features include electrically adjustable front seats, footwell illumination, and an improved sound system with a subwoofer and amplifier. Its safety features consist of a rear-view camera, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), and up to six airbags.

Powertrain Options

  •  1-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
  • A 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 150 PS and 250 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. This engine also features active cylinder deactivation technology for improved fuel efficiency.

Price Range & Rivals

The regular prices of the Volkswagen Taigun range between Rs 11.70 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. With the ongoing offer, prices now start from Rs 11 lakh and go up to Rs 18.90 lakh. The Taigun competes against models like the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
