Indian motorcycle market will soon witness the entry of two new UM bikes, both being launched with the same 279.5cc, fuel injected motor within next four weeks. Renegade Classic is a familiar motorcycle as it was first seen along with two presently available models whereas Commando Mojave Edition will feature an all new paint scheme and host of useful accessories on the same old model.

Classic was first seen at 2016 Auto Expo and came with retro modern cruiser appeal. It was seen with a huge windshield, pair of fog lights, decently placed backrest and abundance of chrome all over its body. Article image

Mojave Edition, on the other hand, used Matte desert finish on its body. Making things more interesting, UM has used leather saddle bag on the special edition Commando, making the same much more practical than its present variant. However, one should expect a decent rise in price for the new variant. This will take the total number of bikes in UM lineup to four. The range presently starts at INR 1,63,800 and goes up to INR 1,68,300 for Renegade Sport S and Commando respectively. Both the expected products will get a higher price tag than this range. UM Renegade Commando Mojave Edition

UM Renegade series is powered by a 279.5cc, single cylinder fuel injected engine producing 24.8 BHP at 8500 rpm and 23 Nm at 7000 rpm. This makes them good for restricted performance due to high overall weight and less than standard performance numbers. UM rivals Royal Enfield motorcycles in the Indian market. The cruiser specific design targets RE Classic as well as Thunderbird series, both priced at a much better point than Sport S and Commando. UM offers 18 liter of fuel carrying capacity with both the bikes whereas Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 comes with 20 liter fuel tank for even better driving range.
