KTM India has been updating its 390 lineup by transitioning to a new 399cc engine. The first model to receive this upgrade was the 390 Duke, which was recently launched in India. However, the RC 390 and 390 Adventure are still awaiting this engine update. In the meantime, KTM might introduce new color options to keep the products fresh.
2024 KTM RC 390 Revealed
Globally, KTM has introduced two new colors for the RC 390, which are expected to be offered on the India-spec models as well. The 2024 RC 390 retains its race-inspired design with no major changes apart from the new colors, which are quite exciting.
One color option features a base Blue shade with hints of orange and white, adorned with large RC branding in white. The second colorway showcases a bright orange front half with black body panels accented by an orange subframe. This variant also features a large RC branding on the fairing in a faded black effect.
The 2024 KTM RC 390 maintains its split-steel trellis frame, similar to the current 390 Adventure and previous generation KTM 390 Duke. It comes equipped with LED head and tail lamps, integrated LED blinkers, handlebars with 2-step height adjustment, and a 13.7-liter fuel tank.
The Grand Prix-inspired styling features race-inspired lines across its bodywork while the design ensures improved wind and weather protection for the rider. It also allows for better heat management with outer and inner panels directing airflow away from the rider.
Engine
The 2024 KTM RC 390 continues to be powered by the same 373.27cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve petrol engine. It delivers a peak power of 42 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch and the new 399cc engine promises enhanced performance.
Electronics Package
The RC 390 comes with a comprehensive electronics package, including Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), Lean Angle Sensitive ABS, Dual-Channel ABS with SUPERMOTO mode, and a power-assisted anti-hopping slipper clutch. It also features Quickshifter+ as standard, along with a TFT multi-function display unit and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone integration.
Braking and Suspension
The braking system consists of a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, mounted on the wheel spokes. Suspension duties are handled by the WP Apex USD fork at the front and the WP Apex adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Competing against the TVS Apache RR 310 and the upcoming Triumph Thruxton the 2024 RC 390 offers an exciting blend of performance and technology.
