Maruti Prepares for Three New Launches in 2024

Maruti Prepares for Three New Launches in 2024

In the upcoming Indian market, Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a minimum of three new cars and SUVs. The third-generation Swift, the brand-new Dzire, and Maruti's first electric car, the eVX SUV, are all, interestingly, brand-new models. Following the order of launch, this is what you can expect and when.

1. New Maruti Suzuki Swift

Cost: Rs. 6 lakh to 9 lakh Launch: Early in 2024, 1.2-liter petrol engine (Z-series)

Given that the new Maruti Suzuki Swift has already been observed testing in India, it is not surprising that the fourth generation of the hatchback will arrive in the country just a few months after it made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show. The model on display at the event and the spy photos demonstrated how the new Swift's design is evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Although the headlight, taillights, and plastic components are altered, the overall size and silhouette are essentially the same.

The huge floating touchscreen infotainment system, the three-spoke steering, the different switchgear, and the knobs will be familiar to anyone who have seen the interiors of current Maruti models. Nevertheless, it is not anticipated that the India-spec Swift would come equipped with either the rear disc brakes or ADAS technology that were featured on the Tokyo Motor Show model.

The all-new Swift, which is anticipated to debut in the nation in early 2024, will introduce Suzuki's new Z-Series engines. Although power numbers have not yet been disclosed, the new 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine is expected to increase bottom-end torque and fuel efficiency. It will replace the present 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series engine. With this engine, manual and automatic gearbox choices are also anticipated; a CNG-powered Swift is anticipated at a later time.

2. New Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Price: Rs 7 lakh-9.5 lakh Launch: Mid 2024 Engine: 1.2 petrol

It is anticipated that the new Suzuki Dzire would arrive in India shortly after the Swift does. The fourth generation Dzire is anticipated to have an evolutionary design, substantial interior improvements, and an extensive equipment list, much like its hatchback brother. Together with the new 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine (codenamed Z12) and its manual, automatic, and CNG variants, Maruti's tiny sedan will also be compatible with the Swift. There will be a lot of information included, as Maruti hopes the Dzire to remain the best-selling sedan, as it did in FY2023.

3. Maruti Suzuki eVX SUV

Price: Rs 23 lakh-25 lakh Launch: Late 2024 Battery: 48kWh, 60kWh

The eVX, Maruti Suzuki's first all-electric SUV, will be released in India around the end of 2019. Based on all we currently know about the all-electric midsize SUV, including the concept that made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo and the most recent eVX spy photos from India, it will resemble the Fronx crossover and the Grand Vitara SUV in terms of design, with an SUV-coupe-like rear end. We anticipate Maruti to include a number of high-end interior features, including a twin-screen configuration, motorized front seats, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS technology.

Two battery pack versions for the eVX are anticipated to be available for purchase: a 48kWh and a 60kWh model. The former will be available on entry-level eVX models and have a range of roughly 400 km, while the latter will be available on top-spec trims and have a range of approximately 450 km on a single charge.

Still, it's unclear if all of this will be sufficient to compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, the Tata Nexon EV, and the higher-end Mahindra XUV400 in terms of sales. An additional version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX, branded under the Toyota logo, is planned for release in 2025. Suzuki's Gujarat plant will create both EV SUVs, which are constructed using a substantially customized version of Toyota's 40PL electric skateboard chassis.
