Mahindra XUV.e9 Unveils Full-Screen Dashboard and Frunk Area

After launching its initial electric vehicles like the e2O, e2O Plus, and e-Verito, Mahindra is making a comeback in the electric mobility sector with the XUV400. On the other hand, we should expect several new electric models as the corporation has ambitious plans for specialized Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The Mahindra XUV.e9, a coupe SUV that has been seen in spy photos disclosing additional information about the car, is one of these forthcoming vehicles.

Mahindra XUV.e9: A Glimpse at the Spacious Frunk

One of the advantages of dedicated electric vehicles is the ample space under the hood due to optimized platform design. In contrast, derived electric vehicles, which share components with their Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) counterparts, often lack this space because relocating parts requires significant re-engineering. This is evident in Mahindra's XUV400, which shares many components with the XUV300 and lacks a front trunk (Frunk) or front boot (Froot).

However, Mahindra's new lineup of dedicated EVs, including the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09, as well as the XUV 7XO, XUV 5XO, XUV 3XO, and XUV 1XO, are expected to feature a Frunk. Recent spy shots of the XUV.e9 test mules, courtesy of APK Kavaskar, reveal a generous empty space under the hood that Mahindra could utilize for a Frunk or Froot.

Insights from the XUV.e9 Test Mule

The XUV.e9 test mule also showcases twin hydraulic bonnet struts, a feature not present in the XUV700. With its coupe SUV shape and chic design features the car has an unmistakable presence on the road. The interior boasts a massive triple-screen layout on the dashboard, similar to the XUV700, and a new two-spoke steering wheel. Mahindra might also include an illuminated logo, as hinted in previous concepts.

Other notable features include large wheels (possibly 19 inches or more), Goodyear tires, flush door handles, rear door handles on C-pillars, a prominent rear LED tail light signature, and a bold front fascia with striking LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The upcoming electric vehicles will be based on Mahindra's INGLO platform, offering battery options ranging from 60 kWh to 80 kWh and both single-motor and dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations. The launch of the XUV.e9 is anticipated by December 2024
