Mahindra XUV.e9 Production Design Patented, Expected Launch in 2025

Enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Mahindra's next-generation electric SUVs, which encompass the BE and XUV.e range. The initial release in this lineup will be the XUV.e8, essentially the electric counterpart of the XUV700. Additionally, Mahindra is actively developing the XUV.e9, a coupe variant derived from the XUV.e8. In preparation for its expected launch in 2025, Mahindra has secured a design patent for the XUV.e9, unveiling its distinctive features.

The design patent for the XUV.e9 suggests that it will stand out as one of the sportiest models within Mahindra's upcoming electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. Earlier glimpses from test mules also reinforce this narrative. Both the BE and XUV.e range will share a common foundation built on the innovative INGLO platform. Despite adopting an entirely new design language for their next-gen electric SUVs, Mahindra continues to prioritize a commanding road presence, a characteristic further emphasized in the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9.

XUV.e9 Production Design

The XUV.e9 boasts distinctive C-clamp-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) seamlessly integrated with a full-width LED element. This signature design element aligns with other upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs, each featuring a slightly unique shape and positioning for the DRLs. While specifics about the rear lighting are not disclosed in the design patent, a similar approach is expected. Another intriguing aspect of the XUV.e9 is the chiseled, diamond-like surfacing on the body panels, extending across the bonnet, fenders, and door panels and this not only contributes to a sophisticated and futuristic aesthetic but also likely aids in reducing air resistance. Coupled with the coupe profile, the XUV.e9 may achieve a low drag coefficient, offering advantages such as faster acceleration, higher top speed, and an extended range. The SUV is also expected to feature sleek Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn signals, likely camera-based and connected to the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Flush door handles and aerodynamically enhanced sporty alloy wheels further enhance the overall design.

Mahindra XUV.e9 Features and Performance

A previous sighting of the XUV.e9 test mule provided a glimpse into its interior. Notably, the SUV features triple 12.3-inch screens collectively spanning almost the entire width of the dashboard. This not only serves functional purposes but also eliminates design inconsistencies and clutter associated with a dual-screen setup covering only half the dash. The vehicle was also spotted with a new two-spoke steering wheel resembling those used in new Tata SUVs. The possibility of an illuminated logo on the steering wheel remains to be confirmed.

In terms of performance, the XUV.e9 is expected to be equipped with an 80-kWh battery pack, delivering a power output of 300 bhp through a dual-motor setup with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) capabilities. The anticipated top speed of the XUV.e9 is 200 km/h while the projected range is around 500 km showcasing Mahindra's commitment to delivering a compelling and technologically advanced electric vehicle experience. As Mahindra continues to make strides in the electric vehicle market the XUV.e9 emerges as a promising addition to its next-gen EV lineup. Enthusiasts eagerly await its official debut, expecting a fusion of cutting-edge design, advanced technology, and impressive performance metrics.
