Lexus launched the RX SUV in India in April last year, and now, after a year, the company has commenced deliveries of the range-topping RX500h F Sport variant. Until now, only the entry-level RX350h variant was being delivered to customers. The RX500h is priced at Rs 1.18 crore (ex-showroom), which has remained unchanged since its launch.
Powertrain and Performance
The RX500h F-Sport+ is equipped with a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Along with the e-motor, the powertrain produces a combined output of 371hp and 460Nm of torque. The SUV comes with all-wheel drive as standard and can accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.2 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 210kph. The new RX model also features a bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery and rear-wheel steering for enhanced performance and handling.
Exterior and Interior Features
The RX500h F Sport variant sports a more aggressive look with the F-Sport body kit, which includes piano black accents, larger air intakes on the front bumper, and unique 21-inch black alloy wheels. The interior, however, does not have significant differentiation from the standard model. In terms of equipment, the RX500h F Sport boasts a 14-inch touchscreen, electronic door latches, connected car features, wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay (Android Auto is wired), and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include 7 airbags, dynamic radar-based cruise control, an anti-collision warning system, and a safe door opening system.
Competition
The Lexus RX competes in the luxury SUV segment with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Range Rover Velar, and Audi Q7.
