Shown in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Audi Q7 is a standard luxury crossover SUV. The manufacturing of Audi Q7 began in autumn of 2005 in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is the first sports utility vehicle offering from Audi that went on trade in 2007 across the world, including India.
Exterior
Despite the large, forthright grille, the general look of the 2013 Audi Q7 is sleek, predominantly for a full-size crossover. For some, the large grille spoiled the look and highlighting the chrome-packed decorations of some American standard SUVs. For others, it gives the low-key Q7 some charisma. Whichever side you are looking at as regards the grille, the rest of the Q7 is well-proportioned and sophisticatedly sculpted however the outline is long and low, particularly if compared to some rival luxury crossovers. The details at the front and back are modern and advanced looking making it more captivating.
Interior
Taking a look inside the Audi Q7, one would completely drop a jaw as it offers an attractive and stylishly styled cabin with some of the most organized, seamless integrated accessories in the sector. The color, texture, and quality of materials used are all top-notch plus a bonus of plenty available customization options to make the Q7 fit any person’s lifestyle. The Audi Q7 comes customary seating for seven, which is quite rare in its class. Most of the rival cars only come with optional third rows. Car critics say that the interior seats are ergonomic and good for long-haul travel as it is comfortable and has plenty of space. The Audi Q7 maintains Audi’s reputation for first-class, lavish interiors. The Q7 comes comfortable with features like heated front seats, parking sensors, leather upholstery and a power tailgate.
Comparing it to a BMW X5, all these features come at an extra cost. Most of the reviewers spend most of their time talking about the Audi Q7’s Multi Media Interface (MMI). This feature is also available to some of the Audi models in the same sector and has garnered different feedback from critics. Those that are used to the traditional controls find it difficult and complicated to use while some reviewers who are able to follow say it is easy to use after a couple of tries. The MMI system works with voice recognition commands plus a remote joystick that controls a 3D display. Audi Q7 also worked on an optional upgrade to the Audi Connect navigation system so people can make most of the navigation device based on Google Earth, and they can also add a Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to eight connected devices so the driver and passengers can surf the internet while on the go.
Engine and Gearbox
Audi has launched a thoroughly revamped powertrain line-up for its big Q7 SUV. It is aimed to improve performance and fuel efficiency. This goes for both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines. Audi Q7 comes with three engine option: 1 petrol and 2 diesels. The 3.0 TFSi generates maximum power of 333 bhp with maximum torque of 440 nm. The 3.0 TDi Diesel develops maximum power of 236 bhp with maximum torque of 550 nm. The 4.2 TDi Diesel develops maximum power of 362 bhp with maximum torque of 760 nm.
Variants

It is programmed to reduce its engine power and apply select brakes to help the driver keep his control over the vehicle.
In case of collisions, front-impact airbags are installed for the driver and passenger to protect the head during a frontal smash. Side impact airbags have been designed and added to protect the torso in case there is a side impact collision. Overhead airbags are put in place to protect the passenger’s and the driver’s heads in the event of a rollover or side crash. Seat-belt pretensioners that automatically tighten in case of a collision have been placed to keep the occupant in optimal seating position during an accident. Audi Q7 is equipped with a means of detecting or sensing forced vehicle entry. The Q7 is packed with an ignition disable device, a feature that will prevent anyone from starting the engine unless the right original manufacturer key is used.
