Hyundai Records 7% YoY Growth in India, Sells 50,201 Units in Feb 2024

In February 2024, the automotive industry in India experienced a notable uptick in sales, particularly in the two-wheeler and passenger vehicle sectors. Among the key players, Hyundai Motor India Limited disclosed its sales performance for the month, showcasing a 4.58 percent year-on-year growth.

Hyundai Domestic Sales Overview

The total sales volume, encompassing both domestic and export markets, surged to 60,501 units in February 2024, a notable increase from the 57,851 units recorded in February 2023. The domestic market played a pivotal role in this growth, with 50,201 units sold marking a robust 6.81 percent year-on-year expansion compared to the same period last year. However, there was a slight dip of 5.07 percent in exports, with 10,300 units shipped compared to 10,850 units in February 2023.

Hyundai's diverse domestic lineup comprises 13 models, spanning cars and SUVs such as the Grand i10 Nios, i20, Aura, Venue, Verna, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson, and electric vehicles like the Kona EV and Ioniq 5 EV. Notably, domestic sales reached 50,201 units in February 2024, reflecting a 6.88 percent year-on-year increase over the corresponding period in 2023. However, there was a sequential decline of 12.11 percent compared to January 2024's sales of 57,115 units.

The recently introduced Creta has been a standout performer for Hyundai, amassing over 50,000 bookings within a month of its launch. Since its debut in 2015, the Creta has achieved a remarkable milestone of 1 million sales, translating to an impressive rate of one Creta sold every 5 minutes.

Hyundai's Upcoming Launches in 2024

Hyundai is poised to introduce the Creta N Line, with bookings already underway at dealerships. The Creta N Line is anticipated to be priced between Rs 19 lakh to Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom) and is slated for launch on March 11, 2024. Featuring an exclusive Thunder Blue color with a contrasting black roof, the Creta N Line will be available in two variants, N8 and N10, powered by a 1.5-liter Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine generating 160 hp power and 253 Nm torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT.

Moreover, Hyundai is currently testing the Alcazar facelift as evidenced by spy shots. Following the successful launches of the Creta facelift in January and the Creta N Line in March 2024, the Hyundai Alcazar facelift is anticipated to debut by June 2024, marking the brand's third launch of the year.
