Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 Unveiled: Shares Engine with KTM 790 Duke

Husqvarna has introduced the Svartpilen 801, marking its entry into the large-capacity street bike segment. This motorcycle is set to raise the bar with its adjustable WP suspension and standard bidirectional quick-shifter. The total riding experience can be improved with extra features like wheelie control and cruise control, which are available as an optional Dynamic pack.

Design and Features

The Svartpilen 801 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 799cc, parallel-twin engine that delivers 105hp and 87Nm of torque, mirroring the specifications of the KTM 790 Duke. It is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and features a main frame identical to the 790 Duke but with the added advantage of adjustable WP suspension for improved handling. The braking system includes J.Juan 4-piston radially-mounted calipers and twin 300mm discs at the front, with a single 240mm disc at the rear. The fuel tank capacity is 14 liters, although the kerb weight is yet to be disclosed.

In terms of design, the Svartpilen 801 stands apart from its KTM counterpart, offering a minimalist scrambler aesthetic compared to the aggressive streetfighter stance of the KTM 790 Duke. It comes equipped with dual-purpose Pirelli MT60RS tires, maintaining standard tire sizes for the segment.

Advanced Riding Aids and Technology

The Svartpilen 801 comes equipped with three riding modes (Rain, Street, and Sport), cornering ABS, and switchable traction control. The optional Dynamic pack adds cruise control, adjustable wheelie control, and motor slip regulation to prevent rear wheel lock-up. The bike features a new 5-inch TFT dash and switchgear, similar to the new KTM 990 Duke and the 2024 Svartpilen 401. Bluetooth connectivity is standard, offering turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts when paired with a smartphone.

India Launch

Currently, there are no plans to bring the Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 to India. Since the discontinuation of the KTM 790 Duke in 2020, the Pierer group's subsidiaries have been absent from the big-bike market in the country.
