Exciting news- Maruti Suzuki confirms eVX launch by March 2025

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric vehicle (EV), the eVX, in the Indian market during the next financial year (FY2024-2025), with the specific timing anticipated around October 2024. The price announcement is expected in early 2025. The eVX, an SUV, will have a Toyota counterpart that will be introduced later. Both models will not only be manufactured in India but will also be exported globally.

The eVX is anticipated to offer two battery options and a range of about 550 km which makes it a high-specification SUV with a 60 kWh battery. Maruti Suzuki's executive director (Corporate Affairs), Rahul Bharti, confirmed the upcoming launch and mentioned the addition of a new production line at the SMG facility in Hansalpur for EV manufacturing.

The eVX and its Toyota counterpart will be produced at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s (SMG) Hansalpur facility, which has been operational since 2017. The plant, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India, has already rolled out its three millionth car. The eVX and the Toyota Urban SUV, both sitting on Toyota’s 27PL skateboard platform, will share a length of 4.3 meters and offer spacious cabins due to their dedicated EV architecture.

Maruti Suzuki has been conducting road tests for the eVX in India, with spied test mules revealing some exterior and interior details. As the global debut approaches, more details about Maruti's first EV SUV are expected to be unveiled.
