Launch Price vs Current Price (Yamaha R15): The R15 sports bike is present in our country for the past 14 years. The R1 V1 was launched in India back on January 8, 2008, with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 97,000. It was the first fully-faired 150cc sportbike by the Japanese brand for the Indian markets. After around three years, Yamaha launched the next-gen model of the R15. Known as R15 V2, it was launched on September 6, 2011, at INR 1.07 lakhs. In comparison to the R15 V1, the R15 V2 was technically a much-improved version but the pillion seat was too high and uncomfortable, especially for the ladies. The Yamaha R15 S got a very good response and at that point of time, the R15 buyers used to have 2 options - R15 V2 and the R15 S. After a gap of around two-and-a-half years, Yamaha launched the R15 V3 on February 7, 2018, at the Auto Expo with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.25 lakhs. After a gap of around one year, Yamaha launched the ABS version of the R15 V3 on January 10, 2019, with a price tag of INR 1.39 lakhs. Then after a gap of around 11 months, the BS6 version of R15 V3 was launched in India on December 9, 2019, with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.45 lakhs. After getting multiple price hikes, the current starting ex-showroom price tag for the BS6 R15 V3 stands at INR 1.52 lakhs, while the Racing Blue is available for INR 1.53 lakhs, and the Dark Knight edition (featured in the infographic) is available for INR 1.54 lakhs.
