The reservations for the upcoming facelifted Hyundai Creta are now open, with an initial booking amount of Rs 25,000, available both online and at authorized dealerships. New alloy wheels, LED lighting, and a redesigned grille are just a few of the aesthetic improvements seen on this eagerly anticipated model. Compared to its predecessor, the updated front and back profiles give the vehicle a more substantial and manly appearance. An Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a digital driver display, and a 360-degree camera are some of the noteworthy new features. The vehicle will offer three engine options and four gearbox choices including the innovative Verna’s 1.5-liter turbo unit. The anticipated starting price is expected to be around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ahead of its official launch on January 16, uncamouflaged images of the facelifted Hyundai Creta have surfaced online, providing a comprehensive look at the updated SUV. Before this leak, the Korean manufacturer had offered glimpses of the new exterior design through teasers complemented by a full reveal of the interior. Hyundai is actively accepting bookings on its official website as well as at authorized dealerships.

A Fresh Face

The most noticeable changes in the SUV's design are concentrated on the front fascia. The updated design introduces a prominent rectangular grille reminiscent of the new Venue accompanied by a full-width LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) featuring an inverted 'L'-shaped signature. The LED headlights have undergone a redesign, fitting into a squarish housing, departing from the split layout seen in the outgoing model. The lower section of the front showcases a chunkier bumper that houses a substantial silver-finished skid plate.

In terms of profile, minimal alterations have been made, except for the introduction of stylish new alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, newly connected LED tail lamps echo the same signature as the front DRLs, alongside a substantial skid plate housed in the tweaked bumper. Overall, the refreshed Creta presents a bolder and more commanding road presence.

What About Its Cabin?

The interior of the new Hyundai Creta will feature a dual-tone theme option. The dashboard has undergone a comprehensive redesign offering a more sophisticated feel by incorporating dual digital screens similar to the design seen in the Kia Seltos facelift. The side AC vent is now housed in a piano black panel that takes up much of the passenger side dashboard. Below it, a new open storage space with ambient lighting has been introduced. Additionally, the updated SUV introduces sleek central AC vents and an updated potentially touch-enabled climate control panel.
The lower center console maintains its connection to the climate control panel but appears to have undergone a slight revision in terms of design. It comes with a gear shifter, front cupholders, and a wireless phone charging dock with ambient lighting.

More Tech To Play With

The midlife refresh brings new features to the Creta’s equipment set, including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Additionally, the vehicle will continue to offer comfort, convenience, and safety features from the outgoing version, such as the panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, six airbags, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

What’s Under The Hood?

With the facelift, the new Hyundai Creta will be offered with both the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (N.A.) petrol and diesel engines from the outgoing model, with the addition of Verna’s 1.5-liter turbo unit. The detailed specifications are as follows:

1.5-litre N.A. Petrol

  • Power: 115 PS
  • Torque: 144 Nm
  • Transmission: 6-speed MT, CVT

1.5-litre Turbo-petrol

  • Power: 160 PS
  • Torque: 253 Nm
  • Transmission: 7-speed DCT

1.5-litre Diesel

  • Power: 116 PS
  • Torque: 250 Nm
  • Transmission: 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT

The key distinction from Verna’s turbo powertrain is that, while the sedan offers both 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT options, the Creta will only be available with the 7-speed automatic transmission.

Expected Price And Competitors

Anticipated to have a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted Hyundai Creta will face competition from various models including the Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross and the competitive pricing and feature-rich offerings are expected to make the new Creta a strong contender in the SUV segment.
