Will the Interceptor 650 be a better tourer than the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650?
With the potential launch of the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650, touring capability is something that has people wondering about if it can match that of the Interceptor 650. Although the bikes use the same 650cc parallel-twin engine, the Scrambler's design might make for more comfortable long distance riding than the Thruxton's. Touring prowess shall be determined by factors like seating position, windscreen protection, fuel tank capacity and luggage carrying options. The Scrambler's maybe more upright riding position and dual purpose tires will be more comfortable and versatile on different sorts of road conditions. But on the other hand, its more road oriented design may still provide advantages in terms of wind protection and overall stability at highway speeds. Scrambler 650’s popularity with touring enthusiasts will also hinge on aftermarket support and availability of touring accessories. In the end, the two may ultimately come down to a matter of personal riding style and what types of roads a rider hopes to get out on.
It depends on the type of touring. For mixed terrain Scrambler might be better.
I bet Interceptor is more comfortable for long highway stretches.
The Interceptor has better wind protection, but if the Scrambler does, it might win out.
Scrambler will have more ground clearance, good for bad roads.
Scrambler's an unknown quantity and interceptor's got a proven track record.
I bet the Scrambler will have better luggage options for adventure touring.
Ultimately it comes down to personal preference - cruising vs. adventure style.
Different tuning may mean that Scrambler vibrates less at high speeds.
