Is the DB11 only a fancy Mercedes or a true Aston Martin?

It’s 100% Aston as an owner. It just makes it more reliable with the AMG heart.

Nah, it's a sellout. Everything on a real Aston is bespoke, not parts bin specials.

It's a necessary evolution. This was what Aston needed to live, to compete.

It is the most Aston of Astons. The Mercedes bits are just the reliable foundation upon which the Mercedes bits are built.

I have driven them both and the DB11 feels nothing like a Mercedes. It's all Aston charm.

This is a hybrid approach that works. British style with German engineering. Win-win.

Mercedes is the brain, Aston is the soul. If you ask me, it’s best of both worlds.

Real Aston fans understand the progress that has been made. That special something is still there.

The old quirky Astons are missed. This is too polished and mainstream feeling.
What is the EQS 450 4Matic’s tech like in the daily grind?
15 January 2025 09:05
At first the tech is mind blowing, but then you realize you only use about 20% of it regularly. Hyperscreen is cool, but it’s distracting.

I love it! Surprisingly the voice commands work well, and the augmented reality navigation is actually useful. It makes other cars look dated.

It's a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the features are great, like the driver assistance bit, but some of it is gimmicky. I've had a few glitches that required system restarts and I've even had a few BSOD's.

It’s impressive tech, but it’s definitely a learning curve. I got a couple of weeks to feel comfortable with all the features. Now I love it, though.
What is the EQS 450 4Matic’s tech like in the daily grind?

It's overkill for me. It's easier, so I find myself using CarPlay most of the time. The cool thing about the Mercedes specific features is that you can show them off, but they aren’t that practical.

The tech is good but the updates are annoying. Every other week there's a new software update that takes forever to install.

Most of it is pretty intuitive, I'm impressed. The Hyperscreen is overwhelming at first, but once you use it for a bit, the layout actually does make sense.

The tech is great when it works but I have had a few where things like parking assist simply refused to work. Such an expensive car can be very frustrating.

I believe it’s a good balance. Other EVs feel like a computer on wheels, but this is high tech without it. But it still feels like a luxury car first.
How does the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic fair in the real world compared to the German manufacturer's claimed range?
15 January 2025 09:05
So far, I’ve had a pretty close range experience to what Mercedes claims, more specifically during highway trips. Over 350 miles on a single charge I’ve gotten several times.
How does the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic fair in the real world compared to the German manufacturer's claimed range?
15 January 2025 09:05
It's hit or miss. In ideal conditions, you can get pretty close to the advertised range, for sure. However, it plummets when you add in some cold weather or heavy AC use. Though, still better than most EVs.
