How does the EQS 450 4Matic ride compared to the traditional S-Class?

On smooth roads the EQS is amazing, but I think the S Class deals with bumps and potholes better. Perhaps it’s the extra weight of the batteries.

It's a toss-up. But the S-Class feels more substantive and the EQS is quieter. I believe it is down to personal preference.

Next level ride quality in the EQS. That's not just about smoothness, but how it marries that with the instant responsiveness of the electric motor. It's a new kind of luxury.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?
15 January 2025 09:05
It definitely grows on you. I thought it was a blob at first, but I love the sleekness now. It's all about aerodynamics and once you get that it all makes sense.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?

Still nope, still can't get over it. To me it looks like a melted S Class. I can understand the aero thing but Mercedes could have made it look a bit more unique.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?

I liked it from the start, actually. It’s futuristic and not like any car out on the streets. The smooth EQS is a welcome sight in a sea of aggressive looking SUVs.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?
15 January 2025 09:05
It's a grower, not a shower. I think it looks much better in person and in motion than in photos. And the interior is so nice you forget about the exterior while driving it.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?

That’s a polarizing design, but I think that’s the point. It's supposed to look different and mean the move to EVs. It’s successful in that sense, even though it’s not conventionally beautiful.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?
15 January 2025 09:05
I'm still on the fence. For some angles it looks great, for others not so much. I will say, however, that it does look better in darker colors that hide some of those bulbous shapes.
The EQS 450 4Matic's exterior design grows on you over time, but is it a deal-breaker?
15 January 2025 09:05
I still think the front end is too plain, but it's grown on me. From the front it could have looked like a proper Mercedes.
Is the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic worth the big money?
15 January 2025 09:05
Absolutely worth it! Essentially, the EQS is driving the future. The tech inside is mind blowing, but that silent, smooth ride is unmatched. It’s expensive, but you get Mercedes quality and cutting edge EV tech.
Is the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic worth the big money?
15 January 2025 09:05
It's overpriced for what you get, no way. Compared to a Tesla, the range isn't that impressive, and the charging network still isn't there. That money I'd rather spend on a fully loaded S Class, or even a Porsche Taycan.
Is the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic worth the big money?
15 January 2025 09:05
It's a mixed bag. It has an incredible interior and ride quality, but people love the exterior or they hate the exterior. If you are an early adopter and want the latest tech, I think it’s worth it, but maybe not if you want the best value.
Is the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic worth the big money?
15 January 2025 09:05
It's great as a daily driver. It is quiet and more comfortable than anything else. The depreciation on EVs is hard to swallow, but the price is. Perhaps leasing is the way to go.
Is the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic worth the big money?
15 January 2025 09:05
For the right buyer, I’d say it’s worth it. It’s hard to beat if you do a lot of highway driving and want the most comfortable EV experience. If you do want performance or a more engaging drive, though, there are better options.
So how will the G 580 Edition One’s limited customization options affect its appeal to traditional G-Wagen enthusiasts?

It's a huge letdown. The fun of getting a G Wagen is half the fun of making it uniquely your own. I think it's taking away from the G-Wagen experience.
So how will the G 580 Edition One’s limited customization options affect its appeal to traditional G-Wagen enthusiasts?

I actually like the limited options. It adds a special and exclusive feel to the Edition One. And it will probably help with resale value down the line.

Mercedes have made a smart move. By limiting options they streamline production and get an idea of which configurations do and don’t sell so they can do things differently with future models.
So how will the G 580 Edition One’s limited customization options affect its appeal to traditional G-Wagen enthusiasts?

I am a G-Wagen enthusiast and I’m disappointed. I get it though, it’s new tech and they probably want to keep it simple for the first run.
So how will the G 580 Edition One’s limited customization options affect its appeal to traditional G-Wagen enthusiasts?

Factory options are who cares? As always, the aftermarket will step up and offer plenty of customization possibilities. The real personalization happens anyway, though.
