I feel like more people will go for the 390. The 790 is a big jump for many riders in power and in price as well.

In fact, this is what might actually push people to other brands. Disappointed KTM fans might boost Yamaha's Ténéré 700 sales.

I reckon KTM will up the 390 a little to bridge the gap. We might get a 390+ or something like that.

This will probably make the 790 more popular. Once people get on it and test ride it, they will see it’s worth the extra cash.

That might be good for the used market. As a middle ground, more people might look for secondhand 690 Enduros.

I believe it depends on the rider. More experienced riders will save up for the 790, and beginners will still go for the 390.

Honda’s 500 range or Kawasaki’s 650 adventure bikes might be snatched away from some of KTM’s customers. They seriously needed something in that middle segment.

I'd pay up to $8,500 for it. If I had any more than that, I'd have just saved up for the 790.

The 390 Adventure is close to $6,500, so $7,500 would be a great price for the 490.

I’d go up to $9,000 if it’s really capable off-road. It’s worth paying for KTM’s off-road tech.

Not more than $7,000. But at the end of the day, it’s still just a middleweight bike. There was anything more, and you're in 650cc territory from other brands.

Honestly, it’s probably around $10,000. They are expensive, but if you’re serious about adventure riding, they are usually worth it.

No more than $7,500. We’re talking about a bike that doesn’t even exist. To attract buyers away from established models, it has to be priced competitively.

I would really like to see a more sophisticated traction control system that still allows you to go as hard as possible off-road but does not interfere too much.

Ergonomics and an adjustable windscreen would be great. No aftermarket parts needed; make it comfortable for short and tall riders.

I’d like to see some serious underbody protection straight from the factory. It’s ready for rough terrain without requiring a bunch of extras.

It would be awesome to have a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Although not common in this class, if it had it, it would make the bike feel very premium.

Put a 21-inch front wheel on it. Most bikes in this class are 19, but a 21 would make it so much more capable off-road.
