Is the Aura's frequent relay problems enough to make it unreliable for long trips?

I've had my Aura for over 50,000km now, and have taken it on several long trips, and have never had this relay issue. Some unlucky owners have it, but I wouldn’t say it’s prevalent enough to call the model as a whole unreliable. Regular maintenance and keeping an eye on battery health has kept my Aura going great.

The relay problem is most certainly a concern. In just a year of ownership, I’ve experienced it twice, and both times I’ve been left stranded. Hyundai fixed it under warranty, but the fact that it can occur without warning, makes me nervous about long trips. Apart from that, I love my Aura, but this is really really a let down.

I've worked as a mechanic on several Auras, and the relay issue isn't as random as it appears. And it’s often because of bad battery connections, or a weak battery. Most of these problems can be prevented by a simple battery check and cleaning the terminals. It’s not a deal breaker, just keep it in mind and keep it maintained.

People are blowing this out of proportion, I think. All cars have issues and the relay problem with the Aura appears to only be present on a small percentage of the cars produced. But Hyundai's been pretty good about fixing it under warranty. If you’re worried, you can always keep a portable jump starter in the car for peace of mind on long trips.

It’s just the tip of the iceberg. I had problems with infotainment, AC, they even had some rattling noises. It's disappointing for a new car. You wouldn't want to trust it with long trips, there are better options out there in the same price range.

I can certainly confirm that the Aura is own brand reliable for long trips as I've done multiple 1000+ km trips myself. The relay issue is real, but it's not nearly as common as online forums would lead you to believe. Prevention is key and regular servicing and a little bit of basic car knowledge will go a long way.

My car rental company has a few Auras in their fleet and I work in the company. In fact, they're one of our more reliable models for long distance rentals. But we've seen the relay issue pop up from time to time, and it's no more common than other electrical niggles we see in rival models.

The boot looks good on paper, but in practice it’s a bit of a letdown. The wheel arches eat into the usable space and the opening is narrow. Larger suitcases have been difficult for me to fit. If boot space is high on your priority, you are better off with something like the Honda Amaze.

Coming from a hatchback to the Aura, I think the boot space is a massive upgrade. It's all about how you pack. I've even fit my mountain bike (with front wheel removed) with some planning. For a compact sedan, it's pretty cool.

The boot space is decent, but the problem is that if you do buy it in the CNG variant, you don’t actually get much space. There’s not much space left for anything in the boot, as the whole thing is taken up by the cylinder. If you want CNG, but need boot space, check out other options.

I think the people expect too much from a compact sedan. The boot of the Aura is perfectly fine for this class. I’ve never had a problem fitting groceries, airport luggage, or even hardware store items in. It’s not a cargo van but is fine for everyday use.

In design, the boot space is actually quite clever. The 60:A lot of flexibility is added by 40 split folding rear seats. I've moved IKEA furniture, plants for my garden, everything. It’s not class leading, but it’s certainly practical for most users.

For a sales rep constantly on the road, the Aura's boot is a mixed bag. It’s a good size for my sample cases and a small suitcase, but anything more and it’s a tight squeeze. The high loading lip can also be a pain when dealing with heavy items.

I’ve been using the Aura’s infotainment system for about a year now and it’s pretty good for the money. It’s responsive, Android Auto operates flawlessly, and the sound quality is good. It's not top of the line, but for a budget car it does the trick.

The infotainment on the Aura is mediocre at best, let’s not kid ourselves. The UI is dated, the app switching is very laggy, and voice recognition is a crap shoot. I expected more from Hyundai, when other brands such as Kia are offering slicker systems at the same price point.

While I'm not the most tech savvy person, I found the Aura’s system to be easy to use. It’s easy to navigate because of its large icons and very basic menu structure. Of course, it may not have all the bells and whistles that more expensive cars do, but for every day use it's more than enough.

It's a mixed bag. On paper it is feature rich but execution is sub par. I’ve had Bluetooth connectivity issues dropping at random, including the system freezing and I have to restart. It works, but it’s not very reliable.

I don’t think the Aura’s infotainment system is as bad as people make it out to be. For the price point, it’s actually pretty good. It's a bright screen that is visible even in sunlight, the touch response is quick, and wireless Android Auto is a big plus. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely one of the better systems in its segment.

As somebody that considers himself a tech enthusiast, I find the Aura's infotainment to be adequate not exciting. It works, but it’s not innovative. I also wish that Hyundai had gone a little further with the boundaries a bit, perhaps with a bigger screen or more customizations.
