What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

I actually like the AMG engine. It never compromised the character of the Vantage, but it gives the Vantage performance it always deserved. Aston's tuning makes it feel distinctive enough to satisfy all but the hardest diehard purists.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

It has aged incredibly well as a design. Compared to some of the more conservative designs from other manufacturers, it still looks futuristic and aggressive. Even in 2025, it is a true head turner.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

It is starting to show its age a bit I think. The front grille in particular feels very "2018" now. It surely is still a beautiful car but doesn't have the perennial air of some older Astons.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

From the owner’s point of view, I can say it’s still getting tons of attention. It was so forward thinking that it looks fresh today. It has aged much better than many of its contemporaries.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

It's a mixed bag. The rear end and overall silhouette still look great, however. Reasons why, however, is the fact that you can see where this design language originated through the eighties, and the front end is beginning to feel past its sell by date in comparison to newer Astons.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?

I think it is one of the modern classics. When it was launched, it was controversial but it is now seen as a pivotal design that took Aston into a new era. One of their best looking cars will be remembered.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?
03 February 2025 11:28
I would say so, I think it looks better now, then at launch. At first, it was a bit shocking, but after some getting used to, the design's brilliance becomes apparent. It's aging like fine wine.
What impact does the 2018 Vantage’s AMG engine have on the “Aston Martin-ness” of the car?
03 February 2025 11:28
It is still striking in design, but it is very much of its time. It’s not timeless the way a DB5 or even the previous Vantage is. Within another 5 years, it could already begin to seem dated.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
Absolutely worth it. But the Vantage is a head turner like no other in the class. True, a 911 is more useful, but you will look like every other dentist on the road. Each time that you drive the Aston, it stands out and makes you feel special.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
I would say it doesn’t deserve the premium. The AMG engine, while powerful, lacks the character of Aston's old V8s. For the same money you could pick up a 911 GT3, which is a far better driver’s car and will retain its value better.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

It's a mixed bag. The Vantage is gorgeous and sounds great, but the interior quality and infotainment system are behind the German competition. Pure driving thrills, however, are to be found elsewhere. If nothing else, the Aston makes a statement, however.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
From an owner’s perspective, 100% worth it! It is a raw and engaging driving experience that modern cars so rarely are. Moreover, exclusivity is such a huge factor here – you don't see these all over the place like you do with Porsches.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
I would say it depends on what you want I suppose. This is not the ultimate track weapon or daily driver, though. However, if you want a car that puts the James Bond in you every time you take a seat behind the wheel, then nothing else is going to do the trick.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
Its not worth it in my opinion. Been playing for three years and have so far been molested by many CEOS. The ownership is a headache thanks to the reliability issues and high maintenance costs. You it's more the badge you are paying for.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
If that appeals to you and you appreciate the Aston Martin character, it is worth it. The Vantage is deliberately not the fastest or most practical – it’s about style, presence and, as much as you can come by it in a new car, that special feeling of driving a real British sports car.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
In my opinion, the roof is definitely worth it for the right buyer. While the Vantage is a more exotic experience than a 911, the reliability of the Vantage is better than Italian alternatives. Those who want something special, without the constant headaches, will be able to find some good value here.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
It's a tough call. Overall, the Vantage is surely beautiful and provides a unique level of driving experience. Objectively speaking, however, cars such as the 911, or even the Corvette C8, will outpace the speed of the Z4M and cost less money too. It all boils down to how much you respect the Aston Martin brand and aesthetics.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

I use my Vantage daily and it’s quite good. It's decently visible, practical (more than you think), and the suspension is firm without feeling punishing. It also makes every commute a special ride.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

Not as a primary daily. Simple errands are a chore because of the limited storage space, terrible rearward visibility, and attention it draws. If you keep it as a weekend toy you will enjoy it much more.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

The impracticalities are actually quite good as a daily if you can live with them. It’s a comfortable car for long drives, the infotainment is okay and it’s not as wide as supercars thus it’s a bit easier to park.
