Our take on this /// Verdict
The Toyota Etios Liva Xclusive Petrol is a solid choice in the hatchback segment, particularly for those seeking a reliable and efficient vehicle. The car is powered by a 1.5L petrol engine, producing 89bhp, which provides a peppy and responsive driving experience. The gearbox is smooth, with well-laid-out ratios that make city driving and highway cruising equally comfortable. While the interior may not be the most luxurious, it is functional and well-appointed, especially in the Xclusive edition, which adds features like keyless entry, central locking, and Bluetooth connectivity. However, the design and build quality, although robust, may not appeal to everyone, especially those looking for more modern aesthetics. Overall, its a great option for those prioritizing reliability, fuel efficiency, and practicality.
Price
The Toyota Etios Liva Xclusive Petrol, when it was available, was priced around Rs. 4.89 lakh ex-showroom in India. On-road prices varied by city but generally added another Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 70,000, including taxes, registration, and insurance, bringing the total to approximately Rs. 5.59 lakh to Rs. 5.79 lakh. Given its features and the brands reputation for durability, this pricing was competitive in its segment. However, since the model has been discontinued, buyers would need to consider used car options or other current models from Toyota.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 25 March 2020 04:16 PM
Toyota announced that the Etios Liva range, including the Xclusive Petrol variant, would not be updated to meet the BS6 emission norms and would be discontinued by April 2020. This decision marked the end of the road for the Etios Liva in India. I think this was a necessary move given the stringent new emission standards.

In 2018, Toyota launched a limited edition of the Etios Liva with a two-tone paint job and red accents. The petrol variant of this limited edition was priced at Rs 6.50 lakh. This edition was available only on the VX variants and added a sporty touch to the car. I believe these limited editions helped keep the model fresh in the market.

Toyota introduced a new Inferno Orange shade for the Etios Liva dual tone variant in July 2018. This update was available in both petrol and diesel trim options and was priced from Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh. The new color added a vibrant option for buyers.

In 2017, Toyota launched the new dual-tone Etios Liva with two engine options across four variants. The petrol variant was priced starting at Rs 6.03 lakh. This update brought a fresh look to the model with new color schemes. I think the dual-tone option was a great move to attract more buyers.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 10:53 PM
The Toyota Etios Liva Xclusive Petrol offers a mileage of 17.71 kmpl, as per ARAI certification. In real-world conditions, you can expect around 15-16 kmpl in city driving and up to 18 kmpl on highways. This makes it a reasonable choice for those concerned about running costs, especially considering the fuel prices in India. The mileage is respectable for a petrol hatchback, making it a viable option for daily commuting.
