About
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX is a compact sedan that has been a staple in the Indian market for over a decade. It comes with engine options ranging from 1193 cc to 1405 cc, producing power between 55.23 bhp and 69.01 bhp, and torque between 90 Nm and 140 Nm. The car features a manual transmission and offers keyless entry, central locking, child safety lock on rear doors, AC, power windows, and other basic comforts. It also has a spacious boot and comfortable seating, making it suitable for daily use. However, its outdated design and lack of advanced safety features are significant drawbacks. Despite this, it remains a reliable option for those seeking a fuel-efficient and low-maintenance vehicle.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX, while a pioneering model in the sub-4 metre compact sedan segment, is showing its age. Despite its comfortable low-speed ride quality and decent bad road ability, which are advantages in semi-urban and rural India, the car lacks modern features and safety standards. The absence of airbags, even as an option, is a significant drawback. The interior and exterior design feel outdated, and the build quality is average. If you are looking for a private vehicle, there are more modern and feature-rich options available in the same price range. However, for fleet operators or those prioritizing fuel efficiency and low maintenance, the Indigo eCS still holds some value.
Price
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX is priced in the range of Rs 5.09 lakh to Rs 6.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can go up to around Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Given its age and the lack of modern features, the pricing seems a bit steep compared to its competitors like the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire. However, the current offers and discounts might make it more attractive, especially with benefits of over Rs 50,000 under certain promotions.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 03:43 PM
The mileage of the Tata Indigo eCS GLX is a strong point, especially for the diesel variant, which offers an ARAI-certified efficiency of 25 kmpl. The petrol variant provides a mileage of 15.64 kmpl, while the CNG variant offers 24.6 kmkg. This makes the Indigo eCS a good choice for those concerned about running costs and fuel efficiency, particularly for city driving or fleet operations.
